There's nothing wrong with competition. It's healthy.
The problem is putting a skin color on success.
We should compete. It brings out the best in us. Color coding everything brings out the worst in us. Idolatry.
I've never followed wnba. CC, I'm not a fan, got me curious like a viral video might get someone exposed to something they really weren't interested in before. But the tone, at least online is this weird blacks hate whites and whites shouting back that actually thier, the blacks, are the real racists. It's exhausting and Def uninteresting. I've tried to engage in dialogue with folks but people are just foaming at the mouth ready to brawl. So this is my last tweet on the wnba, I'm gonna stick with nba and NFL where it's mostly just sports and fans can love and hate players, be kind or mean and no one is throwing around the racist word, well maybe Collin k but he's more of a one man band whose voice is kept alive by the media, he's Def not the main event. Also, sports fans come together in the NBA, all the colors of fans who support a team unify during a game and all the colors are against the opposing teams all the colors fans. Also nba nfl is mostly not political. You don't have commentators making things weird and political, well maybe some on ESPN but they are few and far between. Rant over, I'm officially, to my three followers ๐, closing the wnba chapter of my life.
@MarkKeykxzb@AngeShedeway You seriously think Sophie hasn't got heat this yr? Why would you assume that? If they are in the spotlight they are gonna get fan love and fan hate.
@TiddsBaby@AngeShedeway She literally never said the word racist. Are you an NBA fan? If so, you know how much heat players get. Learning to deal with idiots is apart of being a professional athlete. But that's not racism.
Loads of folks, many non white are saying the opposite. They say they go to games, sit all around. No problems, everything is great. You are talking about a narrative that isn't true. Sure there are idiots out there, but they exist for all teams. If your real and not trolling, go back to the arena, check it out in person. Don't let subreddit narratives tell you what to believe.
I'm honestly just commenting, I'm not even a fever fan. I'm a fan of sports, mostly NBA and NFL but i think the odd reaction to cc doesn't make sense. I also defended aj, she got mad, it happens, she shouldn t be suspended, let's move on. Getting angry and screaming isn't really the point of discussion or disagreement. Make your point on why it's racist and the 6 people who view this will grow.
@AndrewNotDrew89@AngeShedeway Bro, you can't just get angry and throw a fit. Just because you call something racist doesnt make it racist. Was the fan who pointed at AJ racist? Having opposing fans and even your own fan base be mean is not the same thing as racist, even if the mean person is white.
I wouldnt say nba community, id say folks who need the narrative that fever fans are racist to stick are pushing back. They are progressive players and progressive journalists and progressive politicians and progressive people. The NBA community is not a monolith so this characterization is terribly inaccurate.
Facts. This is what the content cult did to Indiana Fever players. She's not weak for feeling this way. Any athlete would feel like this, male or female.
@cc22report Agreed, there are some in the cc cult who only see cc and everything else is viewed through a lens of protecting cc from hate or diminishment. That's lame. I think cc should call it out.
If more WNBA players had the mental toughness Courtney Williams has, I genuinely believe the WNBA would be a better product. Major shoutout to her.
Playing with Caitlin Clark is like playing with LeBron James. The level of attention, criticism, and scrutiny that comes with it is different. If youโre not mentally tough, it can break you.
Iโve never heard LeBron or Caitlin complain about people harassing them in their DMs. The attention comes with the territory. You have to learn how to handle it. I see the lights were too bright for Kelsey and I was a strong advocate for her.
Crying racist at every turn does dilute and weaken real racism. Also, why is thier such an effort to make cc fans racist? Like, objectively and statistically whatever percentage of racists who are cc fans, that percentage is equally distributed among any team. Indiana does not have a concentration of racists, unless you think that a white demographic necessarily means racist. Which some people believe, in which case, there isn't a thing Indiana can do but maybe get rid of cc and yell at the roof tops that she is wrong for the wnba.
Yes, many critical-social-justice dogmas can't withstand intellectual scrutiny, so their proponents try to protect them via intimidation and walling off the university commons. Civil discourse and viewpoint diversity are threats to this tactic.
