The Fringe-lipped Bat doesn't kiss frogs, it eats them. 🐸 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘴 𝘊𝘪𝘳𝘳𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘶𝘴 is theorized to be specially adapted to eat toxic frogs, which the small bumps on its muzzle may help with. #LipsDontLie

Butters hitched a ride from somewhere in South America on a truck full of produce. He made it all the way to Dallas TX b4 the driver noticed and gave us a call. Since his species is not native, and we don't know where his colony is located, Butters is a permanent resident ❤

The Indian Flying Fox (Pteropus medius / Pteropus giganteus) is one of the largest species of bat in the world. It truly earns its name, just look at that face & that fur. Pteropus medius has a wingspan of up to 5 ft (1.5 m), fueled by a diet of fruit & nectar. 12/10 #RatingBats

The Cozumelan Golden Bat (Mimon cozumelae) is just a tiny guy, weighing only 1.2 oz (35g). Their lovely little fur coats often have a yellow-golden hue (fashionable!) & they're exceptional at hunting small animals. It's the cool noses that really win me over tho. 7/10 #RatingBats

Big-Eared Woolly Bats (Chrotopterus auritus) are sizeable predators, and are known to eat small rodents, opossums, and even other bats! Plus, he has some legendary ears. 7/10 #RatingBats

The Greater False Vampire Bat (Lyroderma lyra) isn't actually a vampire at all. They actually eat insects & small birds, fish & reptiles. Still, with a face like that, we can see how they used to be mistaken for their blood-sucking cousins. 8/10. #RatingBats

Straw-Colored Fruit Bats (Eidolon helvum) are a friend to the forests. These bats are important pollinators & spread seeds from the fruits they eat. Eidolon helvum is known to travel in groups of up to 1 MILLION (😱). Cute, social & an essential worker. We stan, 11/10 #RatingBats
