Young entrepreneurs in Uganda are stitching brighter futures, one seam at a time🧵
For Charles, a recent graduate from our Vocational Training Programme in Mbale, a course in tailoring has provided him with the skills and tools to set up his own business and start earning🧡
Alongside mentorship and business and agriculture support, these building blocks help young people to flourish and foster brighter futures for their families.

Meet Fatima and one of her family’s goats!👋
Providing households with livestock such as goats and pigs is a key part of our Child Headed Households Programme.
For young people like Fatima from Malawi who lives without the support of a parent or guardian, animals can:
💰Generate income through offspring.
🍴Improve nutrition and food security.
📈Build long-term financial independence.
Harnessing her new skills and entrepreneurial mindset, she is now earning around 15,000 Shillings on most days (£4) which is enough to meet her needs and support her family. She even funds school fees and learning materials for her younger siblings so they can stay in school!
Meet Nancy, a 17 year old from Omoro in northern Uganda👋
Since graduating from a six-month course through our Vocational Training Programme back in January, Nancy has started her own tailoring business in a local shopping centre.
At WeSeeHope, we are investing in children’s learning every step of the way. Our initiatives improve access to quality pre-schools, protect those at-risk of dropping out of primary school, and reduce barriers to secondary and future learning opportunities.
#Education#TheSDGs
This translates to around 37 million children who are out of school, making it the region with the highest rate globally. The reasons for this include poverty, conflict, gender disparities, lack of infrastructure, and cultural barriers.
After Annie (left) from central Malawi completed her course in tailoring, she took Fatima (right) under her wing and taught her all she knew. Having both dropped out of school early, they now co-run their own business and make a reliable income.
Skill sharing helps to strengthen communities and equip young people with the tools they need to thrive🤝🧵
Across the countries we work in, we encourage graduates of our Vocational Training Programme to pass on their new skills and train other young people in their community.
📸Pictured here is one of two newly constructed pre-schools we are supporting with our partner ACET Gulu in northern Uganda. These pre-schools will bring crucial learning opportunities to around 100 children each year.
Early childhood education is the foundation for lifelong learning, health, and success. It’s not just about ABCs and 123s; it’s about nurturing curiosity, building social skills, and giving children the tools to thrive.
Goal 1 - No Poverty - is at the forefront of everything we do. Through our education and entrepreneurship initiatives, we support children, their families and communities to learn new skills and access vital resources to lift themselves out of extreme poverty.
What are the SDGs? They are a global plan to make the world a better place by 2030. They focus on ending poverty, protecting the planet and ensuring peace and prosperity for all.
