Parents can wonder why their child is not enrolled in #AdvancedCoursework or have questions about enrollment criteria. Yet, information can be opaque for families and students about the opportunities available & the benefits. Here's how NY can do better: https://t.co/DfM0NADqgN

@geographiliac More than 1! and that’s 1 to many. It’s incredible how tone deaf you are to your PRIVILEGE! BPS Should meet the needs of ALL Children! Everybody should have access to Afterschool not just the PRIVILEGED! This is PROFOUND INEQUITY!
@geographiliac For the record CHARTER SCHOOLS are public schools according to the State Legislation that created them. Where is you definition coming from? The BPS parent sitting next to him supports 3 Bell schedule. Charter students are impacted by the bussing crisis. Their voice matters too!
@geographiliac Being late for school/leaving class early to go wait for busses = not having a full instructional day, No afterschool, No modified sports-this is just for students whose only option is to catch the Bus.THE STATUS QUO IS NOT WORKING FOR THEM. That obviously doesn’t matter to you!
@geographiliac There are 25,000+ students who do not have access to afterschool programs (only students who walk &who are driven to school are offered ELT) BPS is supposed to catch up the students who fell behind during the pandemic in the ELT programs that most of them have not had for 2 years
@geographiliac The data is coming from BPS COO David Hills. In a presentation he made at a BOE meeting. That’s just the beginning of the DATA you are PRIVILEGED to not have to know! Bflo has the 2nd highest poverty rate in America. MOST of BPS parents are not PRIVILEGED!!!

If #Regents exemptions are to remain common practice, it's critical NY ensures that classroom instruction – teaching, learning & assessments – is aligned to the rigor of Regents exams. More on equity-driven recommendations from the #NYEquityCoalition ➡️ https://t.co/g9wuEWpZ2Z
