Step inside the world of Lenin Delsol — a painter, teacher, and member of the historic Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts in Chicago. In this intimate video, Lenin reflects on his journey as an artist: from humble beginnings in a small village where his family was the only Black household, to finding belonging and purpose in a vibrant community of creators.

At Palette and Chisel, artists of all ages and backgrounds gather to pursue their craft and share their passion. Lenin speaks candidly about what it means to dedicate your life to art, the quiet wisdom that comes with experience, and the importance of passing that knowledge on to others.

He shares how his mother inspired his creative path, how comic books and anatomy sparked his interest in drawing, and how teaching has become just as meaningful to him as painting. Through his story, we see the power of perseverance, identity, and the enduring nature of creative work.

"Whatever you do, make sure you do it now—while you're resilient enough to work hard. In painting and drawing, you always have a plan. You need to apply that same thing to your life."
This is more than an artist's story. It's a reflection on what it means to live a life filled with purpose, color, and community.
