“For 11 years since my amputation, I’ve never walked this far. I’m so proud of myself.”
On #WorldMentalHealthDay, we supported 24 members of the Invictus Community to take on a marathon in Kenya.
Some completed 10km, others a half marathon or a full marathon. Every participant embodied the Invictus Spirit, pushing their limits and refusing to give up.
Thanks to this opportunity, facilitated by @Boeing and delivered by Impact Marathon, we’ve helped members of the Invictus Community take another step forward in their recovery journeys, showing just how much can be achieved with the right support and determination.
"Helping the local communities and recovering together with members of the Invictus Community has rejuvenated my soul!"
Through the Beyond the Games programme to Kenya members of the Invictus Community are coming together to support local communities while finding new purpose and connection through shared experiences.
Thanks to Boeing, this is the Invictus Spirit in action, supporting recovery through shared challenge and making a difference along the way.
The #InvictusGames Foundation has brought 26 members of the Invictus Community to help them heal on their recovery journey.
We are in the Shompole region in the Southern Great Rift Valley of Kenya with Impact Marathon to help the local community and run a marathon through the amazing local landscape, all in the name of recovery.
This Invictus Adventure was made possible thanks to our partnership with Boeing, as the Foundation’s Lead Global Partner.
“We must think just as seriously about what happens to them after they have served, particularly when they return wounded, injured or sick.”
Today, Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, alongside senior members of the Invictus Games Foundation reinforced the importance of long-term recovery support for wounded personnel during a visit to NATO Headquarters.
We outlined our work in Ukraine through our Signature Programme and how we plan to establish 21 Invictus Recovery Spaces across the country by 2027.
These spaces will bring adaptive sport into existing veterans’ hubs and rehabilitation facilities and will help more Ukrainian veterans access opportunities for recovery through sport, close to home.

A pleasure to welcome Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, founder of the Invictus Games Foundation, joining remotely, alongside @WeAreInvictus Deputy CEO Richard Smith and Chief Programmes and Strategy David Wiseman.
After having met them recently in Kyiv, I was once again struck by their clear vision and genuine commitment to those who have carried the heaviest burden of service. In Ukraine, “Invictus” - unconquered - is a daily reality.
We discussed their plans to bring #sport into the network of veteran hubs and how we can further strengthen our cooperation.
#NATO and Invictus share values of community, respect and belonging. Our veterans’ commitment does not end when the uniform comes off, and neither should our support.
No soldier fights alone, and no veteran should recover alone.
#StrongerTogether
Today, the Invictus Games Foundation visited NATO in Brussels to share how sport is supporting the recovery of wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans in Ukraine.
Presenting to NATO’s Military Committee, Deputy CEO, Richard Smith CBE and Chief International Programmes & Strategy, David Wiseman outlined our work through our Signature Programme for Ukraine and our plans to establish 21 Invictus Recovery Spaces by 2027, across the country.
These spaces will bring adaptive sports opportunities into existing veterans’ hubs and rehabilitation facilities with our goal to make recovery more accessible to veterans across Ukraine, throughout the year.
