Thrilled to finally publish this Climate Change 101 series! It was fun to use a new approach and create short, informative videos that are for all ages. Check the project out here:

The first 2026 Atlantic hurricane season outlook was just issued by @philklotzbach and the team @CSUAtmosSci. Overall activity could be the lowest since 2015 if a supercharged El Niño emerges. April bookends are wide, however. My deep dive here: https://t.co/obNYg3YrzY
@MichaelRLowry, a hurricane expert who recently wrote a guest essay for @nytopinion on forecasting cuts, is currently live on Reddit to answer all your disaster-related questions. Submit your questions here: https://t.co/n5hYSrROU5
Beautiful tribute from @NOAA_HurrHunter who earlier this evening honored longtime radar scientist and researcher Peter Dodge who passed away in March 2023.
His ashes were dropped in the eye of Category 5 Milton tonight –

If you’ve got hurricanes on the mind, check out this beautiful piece on how we’re using AI-powered drones to improve forecasting by my better half, @MichaelRLowry ! https://t.co/DRcHmcVN8m
Climate change is literally making us sick to our stomachs 🤢. With extreme rainfall becoming increasingly common, sewer systems are struggling to keep up. Read about in my latest @CC_Yale article: https://t.co/CpsG2vhJDP
Great to have Kait Parker writing for Yale Climate Connections! Her first post discusses drought, which is #1 on my list of climate change impacts I’m most concerned about, and one that gets far too little attention. https://t.co/Yp6nR5kHtY

The Gulf of Mexico this week is the hottest it's been at any point in any year on record by a wide margin. Weekly averaged Gulf sea surface temperatures have never broken 87°F but this week topped 88°F, an astonishing 1.4°C (2.6°F) above the 1991-2020 average.
#Antarctic sea ice remains on its own this year compared to any other July in our satellite record. Keep in mind when looking at this graph that the y-axis interval is 1,000,000 km². This is a massive deviation from the previous record for the date.

July is often the calm before the proverbial storm heading into August, September, and October -- historically July sees fewer U.S. and Florida impacts from tropical storms and hurricanes than June and fewer "homegrown" systems (80% of total formations in June vs. ~50% in July).
Development odds now up to 70% with Invest 91L in the northeastern Gulf. Air Force Hurricane Hunters currently en route to investigate whether we have Tropical Depression #2 or Tropical Storm Arlene. Regardless, heavy rain potential for the Florida peninsula today and tomorrow.
Hurricane Season starts today, which means the daily tropical newsletter returns. Today, I discuss the just-released seasonal hurricane forecast from @ColoradoStateU@philklotzbach and Invest 91L swirling in the northeastern Gulf. https://t.co/S1zuD7ev3D
Is climate change making tornadoes more dangerous? It's complicated, but @WeatherKait breaks down what we know and don't yet know: https://t.co/Ftiu0F6U46
With the east basted in warmth, my mind is on hurricane season and the great messaging conundrum. What if the past wasn't a hindrance to the future? My latest via @CC_Yale https://t.co/hDNy2C09t0
Too many venues are not accessible for people with disabilities to be leaders, presenters, performers, etc. ADA compliant for audience only doesn’t cut it.
A theater’s lack of wheelchair accessibility forced Denver City Council member Chris Hinds to hoist himself onto a debate stage on Monday.
“I felt like a circus monkey,” Hinds said. https://t.co/CZAHf8R8ot
Hi, @airfrance would you like to contact me about not allowing us to book a flight because of my daughter’s very small, 13kg manual wheelchair? Because I’m sure we are not the only ones who are experiencing this discrimination through your call center. @AirFranceUS
