I have been spending a lot of time looking at DePIN projects lately as we position ourselves for the upcoming bottom in Oct, and one area I think people are massively underestimating is the potential for DePIN + Gaming intersection. Crypto Gaming sector was the first one to get crushed during the last bull year, but it was mostly due to poorly designed tokenomics AND inexperienced advisors . I am going to be keeping an eye closely on Crypto gaming as we get into the next cycle!
Cloud gaming has always sounded great in theory. Play any game on any device. No expensive hardware. No giant downloads.
The problem is the economics never really worked. Running games through centralized cloud providers is expensive, and latency becomes a nightmare as you try to scale.
Meanwhile, billions of people still can't access many modern games simply because the hardware costs too much. That's why Gaming DePIN makes so much sense.
Instead of relying on a handful of massive data centers, you use idle gaming PCs around the world as the infrastructure layer.
✔️More local compute.
✔️Lower latency.
✔️Much lower costs.
One project I've been researching is @YOM_Official.
They're claiming they can bring cloud gaming costs down from roughly $2/hour to around $0.05/hour by using a decentralized edge network.
If they can execute at scale, that's a pretty significant shift for the industry. And considering there are over 2.7 billion gamers globally, the market opportunity is obvious.
Worth keeping an eye on IMO!!!
Mainnet is already live, and TGE for $YOM is scheduled for June 5. They will likely be launched on a T1 exchange.
