What is Sign in Ethereum:
- when we sign something in Ethereum and proving that this txs or msg came from my wallet or Private key.

Basic Problem:

Unreadable msg: User don't know what data he/she is signing...

Replay Attacks: signatures could be replayed, used again in a different place.

some hex like - 0x123ij3f5gh6e3gb4g7...

Solutions

EIP-191: defines a standard format for how data should be signed, so signatures can’t be mistaken for Ethereum transactions.

0x19 <version> <version_specific_data> <actual_data>

Here:
• version = 0x00
• version_specific_data = contract address
• data = your message

- this is the structure of Ethereum msgs rather than raw msgs, which protects from the replay attacks.

- but still not readable for humans (wallets still showed hex)

Now Here comes EIP-712:

EIP-712 builds on EIP-191 and solves both problems:

1. Readable messages
2. Replay protection

Here users are signing a message:

instead of weird hex or alphanumeric no.
