The guy just can't keep his attention on his day job. He insists on long term plans for vaguely defined solutions. His preference is for 10 year plans. Then he replaces them at about year 8. No plan ever gets measured because no plan ever reaches it's end. Now he is on to national issues, but still with the same vague promise and the same longterm plan and still with the same inability to deliver. Instead on being governor, he squirts off in random directions. He has been getting away with this for decades. The voters are going to stop him sooner or later.
Student debt became a government con when the government took it over from the banks. I feel sorry for the debt holding victims. Yet, they keep voting for more of the same by people who instituted the con. I ask if anyone can answer why anyone could possibly think that people in the government have their best interests in mind.
@LauraPowellEsq This lady hears the "black" word, sounds like, could be, must be the "black" she is so consumed with every day. Confirmation bias is strong in her. No room for doubt. No room for alternative thoughts.
@MichaelLud59045@LauraPowellEsq No they don't. It isn't possible to make such a conclusion with the science.
There have been plenty of legends about early people from Spain going to Ireland for trade, even break and Phoenicians. Plenty of opportunity for black hair genes to reach Ireland.
@PoliticalWarri2@overton_news You must be paid to make such a pointless and ill timed remark. Why do you waste our time with such a vague arrogant post. For me, it is a mute as a waste of time.
I admit to riding the wave of dollar devaluation. Lots of dollars now, but they are worth what a penny was in 1960. Saving pennies from that time worked out fine.
The stock market has been a good ride, but not so much when you deflate the current prices. Same with gold. No longer quite at $35. Gold still has its value, but the dollar doesn't. Our money is an illusion, just numbers un a spreadsheet.
The shame is what the government does to the dollar and the resulting pain it causes to young people. They even brag about a goal of 2% inflation being desirable, which is 2% deflation of money. Does anyone want their money to be worth half in 30 years?
Oh, I forgot, people now get paid way more than in 1960. Not 100 times more though, which is the problem. A very real problem. There is where younger people suffer the consequences of mandated inflation.
So, the numbers get bigger. The government and the markets can say happy statements about growth, but the average people are still on a treadmill.
It is easy enough to advance but more work than it should take. I am finally talking about the taxes that have us all bleeding from the heel, like Achilles. Look at a growth chart, then look at the same growth chart without taxes (for example IRA). It is shocking. Parabolic versus linear. Different worlds entirely.
I am afraid I am drifting, but I promise you I have not and will not act (and don't even know people) like in that photo of the article. Manufactured divisiveness just to sell an ad or fill a word count quota is hurting is all.
The market will determine the price point. Yes, it will probably be markedly lower, but not a third down.
I dispute your basic premise though. I believe there are plenty of people able to buy houses, but they choose not to. Yes, plenty cannot and housing is expensive. Rents are expensive too. I think the difference is mobility as early career people change jobs, plus the desire to stay close to single friends as people delay getting married and having kids, and plus the unwillingness to commute far as people got spoiled during work-from-home times. People want to be close to the "social scene", close to work, and think maybe job changes might take them to another city. I know people who could afford to buy now but refuse to do the commute, which they see as expensive and isolating.
Geo-politics stops some, but that will always exist. People have to live within the ever present risk bubble.
Food was a much higher percent of expenses and it wasn't convenience food. In those earlier days, no refrigeration. Then it was transportation. Horses are slower than trucks. So, the food chart makes sense to me. Anyone skipping most of the aisles in the grocery store would save a lot more.
Are there other categories available? There are a lot of new ways to spend money in the last 100 years. Maybe the BLS doesn't realize that yet. These three used to be the required categories of expenditure. What are new ones? What are new but optional, especially those where people spend a ton of their after tax money? I think people should decide between "need" and "want." The entire marketing industry is busy making us "want" something. They in turn "want" our money. We all have a choice.
You sound like people my age who said they couldn't compete with their prior generation. If course, you can compete with boomers and can accommodate much but wealth that boomers could. Pay attention to what you need versus what you want. It takes time too. The money you save will work while you sleep and eventually it will replace your need for income. Eventually means decades of saving 10 to 15 percent into some kind of tax advantaged account.
@SenecaSpeaks21 Do you refer to people who had schooling or people who didn't and are new to this country. The latter seem to have more common sense. Am I wrong in that opinion?
@Scott_Wiener No, you want to turn SCOTUS into a partisan body. You can't stand that it currently is impartial and that you cannot control it. You are a danger to our country. Please think about what you have done and leave the Democratic party.
This is why people should stop watching the TVNews industry, including BBC. The industry makes money by spinning the news so that you come back to watch how the story plays out. They sell ads, like other marketing companies. Remember, BBC is state owned media. Do you watch Russia Today? There are better independent sources that are not TV News.
My CA State Assembly campaign just posted its recommendations on the 14 California statewide Propositions. https://t.co/YtWgiyQ1RS has the details, including my opinion and links to full text of each proposition.
The box score summary is:
1-5, 37, 38, 40, 44 NO
39, 41,42,43, 45 YES
Can we talk?
I just recognize that most of the problem is the Democratic party and it's current reorganization into far left extremism. Yes, both parties have problems defining what they are about. Yes, both parties lock arms to prevent alternative parties or points of view. Yes, there is a Uniparty aspect to this. However, it is not a 50/50 split. How does a Clinton, Obama, Biden Democrat feel about their party? Do they really think the old party still exists?
As a NPP Independent, I would like to see a mass exodus from both major parties. Maybe, that will allow creation of one or two new moderate parties. Until then, we have 2 shadow governments interfering with our elected government.
@WhatYouVoted4@KimsShadow@Shilohmarx Good point. In the chart you presented, I only see one state with more registrations than eligible voters. That is Alaska.
