On Tuesday, June 23, family members of Joseph (Joe) E. Lofton, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3806, friends, and community members gathered as a segment of Mississippi Highway 46, starting at the Webster County line and extending east for one mile toward the Village of Mantee, was designated as the "Joe Eddie Lofton Memorial Highway."

Lofton received numerous awards for his military service - including the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Army Presidential Unit Citation, and the Vietnam Gallantry Cross - and was the only resident from Mantee, Mississippi, to make the ultimate sacrifice in the Vietnam War. 🎖️

It will house the Sheriff’s Department, detention center (jail), Justice Court, 911 operations and county command center room. And yes, the Tate County facility will be built in Senatobia.
