I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.
Neediness is the most repulsive thing a man can wear.
The most powerful man in any room is the one who doesn't need a thing from that room (so here's how you become that man):
In any negotiation, the one who needs the deal to go through will end up doing it on the other man's terms.
Neediness is repulsive, and we've all felt it at one time or another.
The person who was way too into you when you weren't into them. The salesman being over the top and aggressive because he needed to close.
We find it repulsive because we're all looking for the best deal for ourselves, and when someone puts everything into closing you, it's a strong signal they don't have many other options.
That's spiritual power, having power over yourself, awareness of your own desires, and the willingness and ability to resist them.
You don't need to eat the food.
You don't need the woman.
You don't need the deal to go through.
You're okay with ANY outcome.
It's the Stoic practice, where you attach only to your level of effort and the quality of your attitude, and you release all pretension of being able to control or create outcomes.
From that place you come into full acceptance of reality, its uncertainty and its complexity, knowing that whatever outcome plays out, you will be okay with it.
That's spiritual power, and the man who is deepest in that game is the most powerful man in any room.
I'll close with this.
The bird resting on the branch does not do so because it trusts the branch.
The bird rests there because it trusts its wings.
Elon Musk Took the Job the Papacy Left Vacant
For a thousand years, Europe had an authority above power. Not a stronger army – a higher court. The papacy could not tax, conscript, or arrest the men who mattered, and it did not need to. It could declare: this is legitimate, that is corrupt. Kings defied it and universities disputed it, but nobody could ignore it. That was the civilizational axis – the thing that answered the question every civilization must eventually answer: what is all of this for?
That axis broke, and nothing replaced it. States regulate. Markets allocate. Science explains. None of them can say what a civilization should become. Europe got steadily more powerful in means and steadily more lost about ends.
Then one man, with no office and no mandate, started doing the job.
1. Look at what he actually does, several times a day. He does not lobby, does not petition, does not draft policy. He issues verdicts – this is corrupt, this is a lie, this is beneath us, this is what a serious civilization would do. A judgment, in public, with his name on it. That is not commentary. That is the papal instrument, and nobody else in the West is using it.
2. And his profile became the front page. Zola needed one newspaper that a whole nation read in a single morning; that front page has not existed in the West for fifty years. It exists again now – one account, hundreds of millions of readers, no editor between the judgment and the public. The civilization got its shared morning back, in the least expected place.
3. He can do this for the same reason the popes could: he cannot be removed by the people he judges. No board can fire him, no advertiser can starve him – they tried, and he told them where to go, on stage, on the record. Independence is the precondition of the office. Every other candidate for this role – the presidents, the editors, the university heads – must first survive the people they would have to judge.
4. Notice what he judges by. Not left and right. Not the polling. He judges by whether a thing builds or destroys: does this produce more life, more children, more energy, more capability – or does it produce process, dependency, and decline? That is a hierarchy of ends, stated plainly enough that ordinary people can apply it themselves. Which is exactly what an axis is for.
5. The reaction proves the function. Nobody screams at a man with opinions. They scream at a man whose verdicts stick – whose judgment carries beyond his own tribe and cannot be answered with a press release. The fury directed at him is the same fury directed at Rome by every prince who found himself declared in the wrong and could not make it stop.
6. He did not seek this. It fell to him because the seat was empty – and it was empty because we emptied it, and then spent a century discovering that a civilization without an axis keeps its wealth and loses its purpose. Reality does not tolerate the vacancy. If no legitimate authority says what is corrupt, the position gets filled by whoever has the reach and the nerve.
7. But one man is not an institution, and that is the whole problem. The papacy lasted a millennium because it was a structure, not a person – it survived bad popes, mad popes, captive popes. What we have now is the function without the institution: a single mortal, a single account, a single platform. This works exactly as long as he does.
So the task is not to find a better man for the job. It is to build the thing that outlives the man – a public council, transparent, with a published hierarchy of values and the nerve to issue verdicts under its own name. Musk proved the seat is not obsolete. Now we have to build the chair.

America was not inherited. It was designed.
This is the most important difference between the American political system and every European one – and it explains almost everything about how they behave differently under pressure.
The European systems are the accumulated result of centuries of people grabbing, protecting, and occasionally reforming their privileges. The castle became the parliament. The knight became the aristocrat became the bureaucrat. The physical hierarchy of the medieval order dissolved slowly into the institutional hierarchy of the modern state – but the direction of power never fundamentally changed. It flows downward. The state is the source. The citizen is the recipient. Rights are granted, regulated, and can be revoked. The government rules. The people, from time to time, get to choose which version of the ruling class they prefer. But not too much.
America reversed the direction deliberately, constitutionally, and in writing. Power flows upward from the citizen. The government does not grant rights – it is created specifically to protect rights that exist before it and above it. The Bill of Rights is not a list of things the government allows you to do. It is a list of things the government is forbidden to touch. The distinction is not semantic. It is civilizational.
The founders had read their history. They designed against the accumulation of power: separation of powers, checks and balances, federalism, the armed citizen as the ultimate check on all of it. Not a perfect system. A system designed to be imperfect in a specific way – to make the concentration of power difficult, slow, and visible.
Europe reformed its inherited systems. America built from first principles. The European instinct was to trust the institution. The American instinct is to limit it. The gun is the symbol of the difference – not as a weapon but as a principle. In America, the citizen is armed because the citizen is sovereign. In Europe, the citizen is disarmed because the state is sovereign. Everything else follows from that single difference in the direction of power.
Former CIA officer Gary Berntsen confirms that exactly what Donald Trump revealed during his address to the nation on election fraud
Donald Trump said they found Venezuela can alter the vote totals of our electronic voting machines and rig our elections. Former CIA officer Gary Berntsen confirms this
He says Smartmatic electronic voting machines are being used to steal elections from their office in Venezuela
The purpose is to have 150 Smartmatic engineers rig our elections and beat audits
“The important thing to understand here is that Smartmatic has its office in Caracas and it's co-located with the Consejo Nacional Electoral, the National Electoral Commission. And there's 150 Smartmatic engineers and 150 CNE engineers side by side”
He explains they have 14 different ways to rig our elections. They use different method in each district so they a pattern won’t be established
He also gives specifics on multiple other ways they are rigging out elections with electronic voting machines
