Business owners if you want more customers you need to tell Google what you do and where you do it.
It sounds simple.
But most businesses and SEO agencies mess it up.
You can't stick all the info on one page.
You can't mention one of your services in a line and never mention it again.
You can't build all your backlinks to one page on your website.
To get more customers you need to do it all right and consistently. That's the hardest part.
You don't need to reinvent the wheel with your SEO to get more customers.
On-page should reflect what the user has searched for.
Off-page should vouch for you as a business.
Internal links should make it easy for Google not to crawl and index your website.
Doing it consistently will rank your website and get you more customers.
Site structure is one of the most important things you need to get right as a local business if you want to get more customers.
Site structure tells Google what you do and where you do it.
Having a few words on one page isn't enough.
Every service and every location needs it's own page.
How you connect these pages also tells Google and your customers which of these services you do and where you do them.
Get this wrong and you won't show up in Google's map pack and you won't show up in the organic section of search.
Your company also won't come up in AI searches either.
Effectively, getting your site structure wrong will mean the only way you get traffic on your website is through paid ads and referrals.
If you don't want to limit your business this way follow me today and over the next few days I will show you how to create the perfect website structure so you can get more customers from organic search without having to pay for them.
This gonna be goooood.
We created a data study for our client that has earned 5 DR70+ backlinks for our client over the weekend (all websites have millions of readers)
Here's how we did it and how you can too.
(You're going to want to save this.)
First we looked at data relevant to the clients industry.
If you're a bedroom company for example this could be looking at data where people complain the most about noise.
Then you could run a story like noisiest cities to get a good night sleep revealed.
Then you create the content on your website with nice graphics. Highlighting different parts of the study.
Something like "Manchester has the most complaints about dogs barking"
Or London has the most noise complaints about loud music.
Give journalists multiple angles they can choose from.
Then write a nice press release highlighting what your study uncovered. This doesn't need to be anything huge. 600-900 words usually does well here.
Then the final step is to find journalists that cover either that area or that subject and add them to the list.
You can pay for a media database for this but it costs thousands. So the cheaper way is to collect the emails manually.
Most journalists will have their email in their bio or on their social media. You can also guess by using firstname.lastname and then the company.
Finally send that email.
In a few days you will know if it worked because you will get covered.
Finally round it all off by thanking the journalist for covering your story. They would have pitched it to their editors and wrote it up for you, so appreciate the work they have done there.
Hope that helps and shows that you don't have to buy backlinks from shady websites when you can earn top tier ones with a bit of work.
Whether you work in local, ecom or saas, getting good backlinks is going to make the difference between your website earning you more customers or letting them go to your competitors.
The biggest problem for business owners is that most of you don't know a good backlink from a bad one.
Just like I wouldn't know how to fix a car engine, install a conservatory or fit a new set of veneers.
Earning backlinks from quality websites is a skill that not too many seo agencies have in my opinion.
I've spent years learning what works best and I consistently get my clients mentioned and linked on some of the best websites in the world.
But when it comes to other agencies (not all) they mostly buy links from a spreadsheet.
.
They look at what sites are related to yours then send money on PayPal to the webmaster.
Does this work? Sometimes.
But often you are buying the same links that everyone else has.
The biggest problem with this is that Google knows you are buying them. So what do you think happens to that website that links to yours?
It gets devalued.
If you want good links stop buying them from the same places as everyone else and do your own manual outreach.
Otherwise you end up burning through your marketing budget while your traffic stays still.
A builder wasn't showing up in the map pack on their local area meaning that they were missing out on 60% of the clicks when someone was searching for a builder near them.
They hired us and we optimised their business profile, updated their website and built top tier backlinks to their website.
Meanwhile the client worked on their reviews.
All of this together pushed them higher up the map pack until they dominated their local area for building related searches.
As a result they have gone from 5 calls on average a month to over 50.
Saw this image posted in an SEO group that I'm in and the answers are blowing my mind.
Legit "SEO" professionals commenting on the answer schema.
It would be funny if business owners weren't paying these clowns thousands to rank their websites.
If ranking for tens of thousands of searches a month that generated millions in sales was as simple as adding schema text to your website then we would all be retired on a beach somewhere.
Unfortunately we aren't.
SEO in 2010, 2015, 2023, 2026 is and always has been content and links.
Despite what anyone tells you including Google. Links are still one of if not the biggest ranking factors.
There are so many things in SEO that don't move the needle like SEO agencies want you to believe.
Page speed
eeat
Meta descriptions being too long or missing
Alt tags
Spending too much time on things that don't matter means you waste your budget.
Concentrate on on-page optimisation and good links and you will be ahead of 99% of the competitors.
This is why you add photos to your Google business profile...
Because real people check them out.
Don't add a handful of photos to your Google business profile, add as many as you have and keep adding them.
Photos may be a ranking factor, but they 100% are a conversion factor.
Potential customers will check them out before deciding to work with you.
Add more photos.
It blows my mind when local businesses think that local SEO only means getting reviews to your Google business profile.
Reviews are a big ranking factor.
But when 20 companies are fighting for the same 3 spots on the map pack then it comes down to everything else.
GMB optimisation.
Website optimisation.
Citations
Backlinks
SEO is a combination of doing everything right.
Not just reviews.
We got our client backlinks from NY Post, Daily Mail and many more top tier websites, here's how we did it and how you can earn top tier backlinks for FREE!
(You're going to want to save this)
First pick something people would be interested in that fits with your brand. So what I mean by this you need to think of a topic that people would talk about, discuss and even argue about. You also need it to be semi relevant to your brand.
You can't pick something too close to your brand that people wouldn't care about like a study on the best types of common boiler valve (no one cares!)
Instead, move a few steps away from your service and look at things like:
- The UK/USA/Canadian cities wasting the most water
- How much a dripping tap costs you every year
- The household mistakes causing the biggest water bills
All still relevant, but now millions of people could be interested in the story.
Surveys work well but they do cost thousands, instead you can find free data because it's everywhere.
Government websites.
Reddit.
Google Trends.
Freedom of Information requests.
Review websites.
Property data.
Crime data.
Weather data.
Public APIs.
Your own internal business data.
For one client we used free data and got them a link from World Population Review, (Domain Authority 86), even better it wasn't a website we pitched!
Once you have the data, put it on your website, write about it and then pitch it to the press or other websites that maybe interested in the study.
Do this enough times and you will have backlinks pointing at your website that your competitors don't have.
This means better rankings, more traffic and more booked jobs.
