Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Taolo Lucas, says the committee is currently examining the 2022/23 government accounts while still lagging about three years behind in its oversight work.

In his opening remarks, Lucas expressed concern over persistent audit challenges highlighted by the Office of the Auditor General, including eight consecutive years of qualified audit opinions on government accounts.

He also pointed to continued financial leakages, including overpayments of salaries, expired medicines worth about P95 million, and counterfeit drugs costing an estimated P60 million.
