The college baseball season may be “over”, but it never really ends at The Weekly Joe. Links below to our podcast recapping @AlabamaBSB ‘s trip to Omaha and thoughts on the season overall with eyewitness accounts from @DrewChamplin and @rogerpatmyers . 👇👇 1/
Eric Hines just hit a grand slam to the road beyond left field. It came off his bat at 115 mph.
Lots of dang-equivalents said around the ballpark watching that one.
Alabama Head Coach Rob Vaughn revealed that @AlabamaBSB RHP Michael Senay underwent a procedure earlier this fall and that is why he hasn’t thrown yet this fall.
Senay pitched to a 3.78 ERA in 81 innings with 49 K’s.
T5 | With the bases loaded and one out, Evan Malone fires a wild pickoff attempt into center field to bring across a run for the Blazers and cut the Crimson Tide lead to 8-5.
Getting the start in the second game tonight for @AlabamaBSB is FR RHP Jack Rostock from North Broward Prep in Florida.
Rostock flipped from NC State to Alabama after the coaching change and has been up to the mid-to-upper 90s, I have been told. Has the potential to be really good year one for the Crimson Tide.
We nearly got our first long ball of the night in the final inning of the first game as @AlabamaBSB newcomer Griff Rardin launched one off the top of the wall for his second hit of the game.
Rardin is the son of @WKU_Baseball HC Marc Rardin.
I asked @UAB_Baseball Kevin Hall Jr. before tonight's exhibition against Alabama, someone I should be buying stock in.
He told me that he expects Riley Miller to have a breakout year. The sophomore has been up to 99 already this fall and struck out the side, including Eric Hines in his first inning of work tonight.
Alabama's Sam Christiansen missed all of last season with an injury, but so far in two at-bats here today, he is making a great impression on the Alabama fans here.
His second double of the day ties this game at one.
Better inning there in the top of the fourth for Luke Smyers (1-2-3 with a backwards K) than that Tuesday night game last spring we’ll never speak of again.
Would like to see Alabama get the bats going: down 1-0 to UAB heading bottom 4
