Results suggest a good 1st attempt for the C&J leads to a 1.6x increase in gold medal likelihood in women, whilst the 2nd attempt for the Snatch leads to a 1.2x increase in men
Over 7500 lifts were analysed
Average increases in the Snatch second and third attempts by sex, bodyweight and age group.
Data derived from past 15 years of British competition performances.
The combination of all three relationships explains 56% and 72% of performance in men and women, respectively.
Competitive experience accounts for just 3.5% of uniquely explained variance (after factoring in age and bodyweight) in men, whilst it accounts for over 10% in women
