@LibertarianJew @johndrew_EX I'd recommend that you look into getting an AR15 variant AND training...if unjust laws prevent you from legally owning an AR15, your next best bet is a Ruger Mini-14. After that, consider getting a Glock in 9mm (for CC). These are basic options but they are easy to train with.
