On June 6, 1996, 5-year-old Damon and 6-year-old Devon Routier were fatally attacked inside their family home in Rowlett, Texas.

Authorities identified Lewis, then 39, as the suspect. Deputies reportedly saw him fleeing the house. He escaped through an upstairs window, drove across the property, abandoned the vehicle when it became stuck, and fled into nearby Horseshoe Lake. He disappeared beneath the water and later died.

That DNA was compared with DNA recovered from an umbrella left behind at the credit union during the 2003 robbery, It matched.

Wilbern was arrested in 2016, convicted in 2019, and sentenced to life in prison in 2020.

He had no identification, and the labels had been removed from his clothing. Police found a tiny piece of paper hidden in a pocket containing the words “Tamám Shud”, meaning “ended” or “finished.”

The phrase came from a rare copy of The Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám, which investigators eventually traced to a book found in a nearby car.

For decades, nobody knew who the man was or why he had died.

The day before Jacque Waller was supposed to meet with a divorce lawyer, her husband dug a grave.

It was May 31, 2011, in Missouri.

Jacque had separated from James Clay Waller and was preparing to end their marriage. According to Waller's later guilty plea, he had repeatedly threatened her over the divorce.

The following day, Jacque met Waller at a lawyer's office to discuss the divorce.

Afterward, she went to his home.

She never came home.

Waller later admitted that he killed Jacque inside the house, transported her across the Mississippi River by boat, and buried her in the grave he had prepared the day before.

For years, the case remained a mystery because Jacque's body had not been recovered.

Eventually, Waller led authorities to the burial site.

He ultimately pleaded guilty to murder in Missouri and later to interstate domestic violence in federal court.
