@BrattyNerdGirl @JonnyPage9 To be clear, I don't love it! 3rd & 18, you run a draw that even if it gets you 12 yards, that's margin of error for NFL punters. I get not wanting to throw medium-long into deep zones. So give it a shot at the sideline. Usually you'll miss, but maybe once in while you'll hit.

@BrattyNerdGirl @JonnyPage9 The logic is they have already decided to punt, on 3rd down. They figure the odds of nailing an 18+ yard pass are so small in this situation, when the defense knows to back off pass coverage like 15 yards deep, that it's not worth risking an INT.

I feel like there's an entire set of Twitter jurisprudence which comes from a Richard Sherman tweet that quotes the rulebook, but the quote is about restrictions applied to kicking plays.

Defenders can absolutely push on each other during a normal play from scrimmage. It's only when the offense lines up in a kick formations that restrictions pop up about that.

Guys are running into teammates all the time and penalizing that becomes absurdly subjective

I understand exactly your suggestion here, and it's about changing forward progress rules. Defenses can all gang up now to stop the ball carrier, by stopping his forward progress. What you don't like is offenses being able to continue that forward progress.

It sounds like your gripe is with forward progress rules, not the Brotherly Shove itself. Changing the forward progress rules wouldn't affect the Eagles success rate on the Brotherly Shove.
