🚨 Amhara, Tigrayan and Gumuz civilians massacred in Waja, Fendika and Lemi as Gada Commando, Jaal Mose-led OLA and Qeerroo forces expand attacks in East Wollega of Oromia Region

A large-scale massacre of Amhara, Tigrayan and Gumuz civilians has taken place in Waja, Fendika and Lemi in East Wollega Zone, Oromia Region, amid continuing attacks involving Oromia Region Gada Commando forces, the @AbiyAhmedAli regime-backed Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) led by Jaal Mose, and armed Qeerroo (Oromo youth).

In Lemi, Gada Commando forces that burned Lemi Teklehaimanot Church last week have occupied Lemi Abo Church and are using the church compound as a military base. Forces positioned at the church have been firing indiscriminately toward civilian-populated areas, further endangering residents and forcing families to flee.

Amhara and Gumuz communities in the area attempted to defend themselves against the attacks but were ultimately overpowered by Oromia Region security forces backed by Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) units.

Survives from the affected areas have said armed Qeerroo (Oromo youth), recruited from areas under @ShimelisAbdisa control, have been following behind Gada Commando forces as they move through affected communities, setting fire to homes and properties belonging to Amhara, Tigrayan and Gumuz civilians.

The latest violence in Waja, Fendika and Lemi comes amid an expanding wave of killings, displacement, destruction of civilian property and attacks on Ethiopian Orthodox churches across parts of East Wollega Zone.

Some of the most severe violence occurred at Debre Anbessa Gind Ansa St. Michael, where large numbers of civilians had taken refuge after fleeing attacks on surrounding communities. ENDF soldiers and Gada Commando forces surrounded the monastery compound and opened fire on civilians attempting to escape, using Bren machine guns, sniper rifles and Kalashnikov rifles.

Armed Qeerroo (Oromo youth) members operating under the cover of the security forces entered the monastery compound and attacked civilians with bladed weapons. Among those killed were pregnant women and infants as young as two months old.

Additional killings occurred throughout Mender 3, where more than 52 civilians were reported killed in areas affected by the violence.

Some victims in Mender 22 were killed with sickles and machetes. In particularly disturbing cases, the weapons used in the killings were found still lodged in victims’ bodies when their remains were recovered for burial.

በወለጋና አንዳንድ የኦሮሞ ክልል ክፍልሃገራት ዐማራው በሚያሳዝን ጭፍጨፋ ላይ እንደሆነም ይታወቃል። የዐማራ ጭፍጨፋ እጅግ በተቀናጀና ሚዲያ፣ የአብይ ብልጽግና ሰራዊት ፣ የኦሮሞ ልዩ ሃይል የገዳ ኮማንዶ፣ እነጃዋር ያሰለጠኗቸው ወጣቶችና ራሱን የኦሮሞ ነጻነት ሰራዊት ብሎ የሚጠራው ታጣቂ ሃይል የተሳተፉበትና ለማቆም ምንም አይነት አዝማሚያ የማይታይበት አስቃቂ ክንውን ነው።

በማንኛውም የሕብረተሰብ ክፍል ላይ የሚደርስ ግፍ፣ የሕይወት ማጣትና መፈናቀል አሳዛኝና በአስቸኳይ ሊቆም የሚገባው ሰብአዊ ጉዳይ ሆኖ እያለ የራሷ የኢትዮጵያ የሃገሪቱ ህዝብ እንዲሁም የዓለም አቀፉ ማህበረሰብ ዝምታ እንቆቅለሽ ሆኖ ቀጥሏል። ለዐማራ ሕዝብ ደህንነት፣ ህልውና እና መብት የሚደረግ የማንኛውም ጥረትና እይታ ዋና ዓላማ የዜጎችን ሕይወት መታደግና ዘላቂ ሰላምን ማረጋገጥ መሆኑ ግልጽ ሆኖ እያለ ዝምታው ለምን ብሎ ለሚጠይቅ ትክክለኛ መልሱ አስቀድሞ በጸረ ዐማራ ሃይሎች የተሰራው በሬወለደ ትርክት ነው የሚል ይሆናል።

እነዚህ ሃፊነት የጎደላቸው የሃሰት ትርክቶች ከዐማራ ሕዝብ ህልውና፣ ደህንነት እና የታሪክ ትርክት አነጻር:

የደህንነትና የሕልውና ስጋት

በጽኑ በሚነሱ ዐማራ ጨቋኝ ነው በሚሉ አመለካከቶች መሠረት፣ በኦሮሞ ክልል በተለያዩ አካባቢዎች (ለምሳሌ በወለጋ) በሚኖሩ ዐማራዎች ላይ የሚፈጸሙ ጥቃቶችና መፈናቀሎች የሕልውና ስጋት ደቅነዋል።የዘር ማጽዳት ጭፍጨፋ ኢየተካሄድ ነው። ራሳቸውን መከላከል የማይችሉ አረጋውያን፣ ህጻናትና ሴቶች እየታረዱ የዐማራ መኖሪያ በቶች እየተቃጠሉና አስቃቂ ግፍ በመሰራት ላይ ይገኛል።

የመንግሥትና የሕግ የበላይነት ኃላፊነት:

የዐብይ አስተዳደር የመንግስትነት ቅርጽ ቢኖረውም በጸር ዐማራ ትርክት የተገነባ በመሆኑ የዐማራን ጭፍጨፋ ማስቆም ሳይሆን ማባባስ ዋና ስራው ሆኖ ኢየታየ ነው። እንደ መደበኛ መንግስት ቢሆን ኖሮ የማንኛውም መንግሥት ቀዳሚ ኃላፊነት የዜጎቹን ሕይወትና ንብረት ማስከበር በመሆኑ፣ እነዚህን ጥቃቶች ማስቆም፣ ገለልተኛ ምርመራ ማካሄድ እና ፈጻሚዎችን ለሕግ ማቅረብ ተገቢ እርምጃ ው በሆነ ነበር።

የታሪክና የፖለቲካ ትርክት:

ለአምስት አስርት ዓመታት ያህል ሲንሸራሸር የቆየው "ዐማራ ጨቋኝ ነው" ወይም "ሰፋሪ ነው" የሚለው ትርክት፣ ተራውን የዐማራ ሕዝብ ለጥቃትና ለበደል እንዳጋለጠ በዓይናችን እያየንና ፍሬውም በዐማራ ጭፍጨፋ እየተገለጸ ነው።። ዐማራው ከሌሎች ብሔሮች ጋር አብሮ የኖረና አገር ያቆመ እንጂ የታሪክ ወንጀለኛ እንዳልሆነ ማሳወቅ የትግሉ አካል ተደርጎ መወሰድ ያለበትም ለዚህ ነው።

እውነተኛውን ታሪክ ማንጸባረቅ:

የሕልውናው ትግል ዘላቂ የሚሆነው የታሪክን እውነት በማንሳት፣ በታሪክ ተመራማሪዎች፣ በትምህርት ካሪኩለም፣ በሚዲያ እና በኪነ-ጥበብ አማካኝነት ትክክለኛውን የዐማራ ሕዝብ አዎንታዊ ሚና እና ማህበራዊ እውነታ ለሕዝብ ጠቅልሎ በማቅረብ ነው።

የመፍትሔ አቅጣጫዎች:

- በራሱ የመከላከልና የመደራጀት መብት፡ ሕግና ሥርዓት ባልተከበረበት ወይም የዜጎች ደህንነት አደጋ ላይ በወደቀበት ሁኔታ፣ ሕዝቡ ራሱንና ቤተሰቡን ከጥቃት የመጠበቅና ደህንነቱን የማስከበር ተፈጥሯዊ መብት አለው።ስለዚህ ዐማራ ሁሉ ከመቸውም ጊዜ በበለጠ ራሱን ለመከላከል መደራጀት አስፈላጊውን የመረጃ ልውውጥ ማድረግና አስቀድሞ ያወቀውን ጠላቱን እንዲሁም ተላላኪዎችን በሚገባ መመከት ያለበት ጊዘ ነው። በየትኛውም አካባቢ ዐማራ ከተሰራው ትርክት የተነሳ የህልውና አደጋ ላይ መሆኑን አውቆ አንድነቱንና ህብረቱን በማጠናከር ተፈጥሯዊ፣ ህጋዊና ሞራላዊ መብቱን የማስከበር የውዴታ ግዴታ አለበት።

- አንድነትና እውነተኛ አመራር፡ የዐማራን ሕዝብ ደህንነት ማስከበር የሚቻለው በስሜት በሚደረጉ እንቅስቃሴዎች ሳይሆን፣ የታሪክ እውነታውን መሠረት ባደረገ፣ የሕዝቡን ስቃይ ሊያስቆም በሚችል እና ግልጽ የፖለቲካና የሕልውና ግብ ባለው አመራር አማካኝነት ነው።በዐማራ ዘንድ በተግባር እየተከናወነ ያለውን የዘር ጭፍጨፋ ከስሩ ማስቆም የሚቻለው ለጭፍጨፋ የዳረጉትን ትርክቶች ከመሰረታቸው መንቀል ሲቻል ብቻ ነው። የዐማራ የህልውና ትግል ዐማራ በማንነቱና በእሴቱ እንዲሁም በታሪኩ በጠላቶቹ ዘንድ በተተረከበት ማንነቱ ፈጽሞ እንደማይታወቅ ነገር ግን ፍት ህ ፣ እኩልነት የህግ የበላይነት ፣ ሰብዓዊነትና ነጻነትን ወዳድነቱን የሚያጎሉ ትርክቶች በህብረተሰቡ ዘንድ እንዲሰርጽ ማድረግ የነገ የሚባል እንዳለሆነ በመገንዘብ የአመራሩ ትኩረት ሊሆን ይገባዋል።

- የማንኛውም አገር ሰላም የሚረጋገጠው የአንዱ ብሔር ደህንነት የሁሉም ደህንነት መሆኑ ተረድቶ፣ የዜጎች ሕይወት በብሔራቸው ምክንያት አደጋ ላይ እንዳይወድቅ ሙሉ በሙሉ ማስቆም ሲቻል ነው።የኦሮሞ ህዝብም ሆነ ሌላው ኢትዮጵያዊ የሚደረገውን የዐማራ የዘር ጭፍጨፋ ለማስቆም የማይጥር ከሆነ የትውልድ እዳ እያስተላለፈ መሆኑን መረዳት ይገባዋል። ዐማራ ራሱን ለማዳን ምክፈል ያልበትን መስዋእትነት ሁሉ ይከፍላል። በዚህ ህዝብ ላይ የተጣመመውንና በዋናነት የሐሰት የሆነውን ትርክትም ይከረክማል። ራሱን ለመከላከል በሚያደርገው ማንኛውም እንቅስቃሴ ተፈጥሯዊም ህጋዊም መብቱ መሆኑን በመገንዘብ ህዝቡ የበኩሉን አስተዋጾ ቢያደርግ ይመከራል።

A separate massacre occurred in Mender 22, several kilometers from Mender 3, where more than 44 Amhara civilians were killed. Among the victims were 85-year-old Aba Ayele Arega, a respected community elder known for mediating disputes and consoling grieving families, and his wife, Emahoy Eskedar Gelaw, who were hacked to death by Qeerroo (Oromo youth) and Gada Commando forces.

Undying Love Until the Very Last Minute

Look at her arm. Even in death, it is around her child.

She was a farmer. She was a mother. She had no politics, no ideology, no part in whatever grievance was used to justify what was done to her and to the little one she was still holding when they found them. She was simply a woman who loved her child the way every mother loves her child, completely, instinctively, until the last breath.

Their greatest crime: Being An #Amhara

This image was taken in #Wollega. While it was happening, while communities like hers were being systematically massacred by forces armed with the supremacist ideology of #Oromumma, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed was giving a celebrated interview to the New Yorker. Two realities, existing simultaneously. Only one of them was being covered.

Every one of us came into the world held by arms like hers. Every human being alive knows what a mother's protection means, regardless of ethnicity, language, or faith. That is why this image is not only an Amhara tragedy. It is a human indictment.

Her name is not recorded here. It should be.
