"You are not working from home; you are at your home during a crisis trying to work."
I've heard this twice today. I think it's an important distinction worth emphasising.
@ChrisSlape @Carreira_DrP @Science_Academy But it cuts both ways, there are plenty of ‘MCR’ fellowships where you can only apply if you are less than 10 years out from your PhD.
Good #vaccine news! Phase I trial of #TRI-based #Vaxxas' high-density microarray patch (embedded with needles thinner than human hair) was used to deliver #flu vaccine. #Safe, well tolerated & immune responses similar or better @UQMedicine @WellsTeamUQDI https://t.co/K00Sk61QjA
New vaccine platform allows many more patients to be vaccinated from a limited volume of vaccine AND enables vaccines to remain stable for up to a year at 40oC. Very proud to have been a part of this groundbreaking research! 😎 https://t.co/MVUijsW3e8
Fear mongering about lockdowns lasting for months is wrong. If we really lock down, in 2 weeks we know everyone infected now. They can be isolated. The next two weeks only people they live with might be sick. That is why it can be fast. See China attached.
BREAKING: Coronvirus Outbreak. One week after Italy's national lockdown (8 days after the north), Italy has three days with same number of new cases. This means 5 days after lockdown cases leveled off, consistent with typical incubation period of 3-5 days. This is good news.
Some good news. By the way, this is one of the many reasons why we fund research institutes and universities and PhD’s etc etc. as a society. It may all seem a bit of a luxury to some until we actually HAVE to find something out about Nature very quickly.
@lau_gcarrascosa Four out of five seems low to me. I recently advertised a PhD position in my lab and received 45 applications. None were from Australians.
Even in 2020, scientist Dr Fiona Simpson still finds that being a woman can be a considerable disadvantage when it comes to getting funding for crucial research projects.
Amazing work.
1-will probably impact oncology long term. 2-is already saving lives making drugs more effective 3-will change concepts in immunotherapy. Well done Fiona and the Simpson team. @SimpsonTeamUQDI
