1/3 Dr. Negin Hesam-Shariati, is a research fellow at the School of Psychology at UNSW Sydney and Centre for Pain IMPACT at Neuroscience Research Australia.
2/3 Her research found that the way people relate to their pain shifts over time, with acceptance playing a stronger role and catastrophic thinking playing a weaker role the longer someone has lived with their injury.
