One of our biggest mistakes of this decade of war was that we bitterly underestimated the effect of mass TV propaganda of hatred.

It seemed like something straight out of Orwell's book or a relic of the past — that hate-spewing loudspeakers could so profoundly distort the basic moral compass of entire nations and make them sincerely applaud the darkest crimes against humanity.

And yet, here we are — almost 40% of Russians believe that the use of nuclear weapons against Ukraine could be justified. The percentage of Russians who consider this unacceptable is shrinking. And this is against Ukraine, whose 'crime' since 2013 has been simply wanting to be an independent country with its own culture, politics, and path toward the future.

It's a staggering degree of dehumanization and brutalization, fueled by the frenzy of collective hatred on Russian television and Putin's idiotic grimaces as he babbles about how 'we'll go to heaven, and they'll just die.' What can one even say about the state-run Russian Orthodox Church, whose sermons declare the war to eradicate Ukraine as 'sacred' and urge Russians not to fear nuclear Armageddon?

Russia is profoundly sick and corrupted with propaganda-instigated hatred and the cult of perpetual war.

Many 🇺🇦 families have their own traumatic memories about #Holodomor (Stalin’s man-made famine on Ukraine).

Mine has this. My grandma’s big sister Maryna, who was 12, survived the horrible winter of 1932-33 but when the spring came, she saw the acacia blossom and started eating it.

She ate so much of it, that her belly swell up and she died in great pain.

From time to time, I just ask myself: how hungry should a child be, so that she saw some blossom and her first thought was: food!

Millions of Ukrainians starved to death in Holodomor. Many of them children. Very often - whole families. All this - on the world’s most fertile land.

Give them a thought today please!

- Support cable of the Louhunsalmi suspension bridge broke in Finland, leaving 2 Islands almost cutt-off
