📢 I am getting really tired of finding out what my own government is doing from somebody else’s podium in some distant foreign land.

Canadians were told Mark Carney was going to diversify our trade. He was going to find us new customers and make us less dependent on the United States so future trade disruptions have less impact.

Okay… so diversify!

Nobody remembers voting to blow up the relationship with the country that buys roughly two thirds of our exports, walk away from a deal because American demands supposedly threatened our “flexibility, independence, and sovereignty,” and then start sidling up to Brussels looking for something called associate membership.

That was not in the Liberal election brochure. That was not on the election ballot either! And it was not explained to the people who actually live here.

Three days ago, Carney was asked about reports Canada was exploring EU associate membership. No, he said. Canada was not looking to become a member of the European Union. He wanted a “unique alliance.” Then he flew to Europe.

There he sat in the European Parliament while Ursula von der Leyen delivered her hour long prepared State of the Union speech and proposed that Canada become the first associate member of the EU, a position that does not even exist yet.

Well… that seems to have escalated quickly. Except it didn’t.

Jonathan Wilkinson, Canada’s incoming ambassador to the EU, wandered out afterward and ruined the surprise. They had already talked about it. They knew it was going to be on the table. So stop playing word games with Canadians Mark Carney.

I do not care whether Carney calls it membership, associate membership, a unique alliance, or European Friendship Deluxe with free continental breakfast. What are you actually negotiating?

Do we get a vote on EU rules Canada may be expected to follow? If Brussels changes those rules, can Canada say no? Can Parliament? What Canadian laws and provincial regulations are being discussed? What has Ottawa already promised?

And why do we need this at all?

We already have CETA. We are already negotiating a digital trade agreement. We are already cooperating with Europe on defence, critical minerals, energy and technology.

So what does associate membership add? And more importantly, what does Canada give up to get it?

This is where my patience finally runs out!😡

A real leader in a real democracy would put this in front of the country. A referendum with a crystal clear question requiring a simple yes or a no from the people who have to live with the answer. Instead we get word games, photo ops in Strasbourg, and a Prime Minister who treats the House like a demon treats holy water: he will not sit in it unless he has to!

Carney walked away from Washington telling Canadians sovereignty was the line in the sand. If that is in fact the case - the real reason sputtered by Carney, then explain something to me like I am sitting at my kitchen table in Saskatchewan trying to pay the power bill…

If another country having too much influence over Canadian economic decisions is a threat to our sovereignty, how does another political bloc having influence over Canadian economic decisions protect it? Does sovereignty expire somewhere over the Atlantic?

Washington wanting a say in Canadian decisions was apparently so intolerable as to warrant walking away from the negotiating table with America. If Brussels wants a say, we are supposed to call it strategic autonomy. That is quite a parlour trick. One superpower wanting a say is tyranny. A whole bloc wanting a say is statesmanship. Huh, how convenient.

And drop the piety for a minute. A lot of the people who built this country left Europe for a reason. They left class systems, imperial ministries, conscription, religious tests, and distant capitals that decided their lives without asking. They crossed an ocean so their kids would not live under somebody else’s “common space.”

So why the hell are we walking back into it with a smile and a press release?

Europe is not sitting around enjoying unprecedented prosperity while von der Leyen hands Canada the secret recipe. She is getting hammered inside Europe over competitiveness, sky high energy costs, poverty inducing climate policy, uncontrolled migration and the direction she is taking the bloc. EU governments are already questioning parts of this proposed Canadian relationship.

Meanwhile Carney and von der Leyen sound like somebody photocopied the same economic manual and handed each of them half: carbon, climate, economic security, strategic autonomy, integration... all the things that make them indistinguishable from each other. One works from Brussels. One works from Ottawa.

Maybe this arrangement is wonderful. Then show us. Tell Canadians what you have discussed, what you have promised, what we are expected to follow, and whether we actually get a vote.

Do not brief Europe first. Do not announce it from a foreign parliament. Do not hide behind “unique alliance” like that phrase is a substitute for consent. Carney made sovereignty the standard. Not me… him.

So I have one request for Mackenzie Gray, Judy Trinh and every other journalist who gets close enough to stick a microphone in front of the Prime Minister.

Ask him.

Mr. Carney, if Canada could not accept becoming a rule taker for Washington because we are a sovereign country, why should Canadians accept becoming a rule taker for Brussels?

And if this is such a gift, why will you not put it to a national referendum instead of stepping around the people and the Parliament that is supposed to speak for them?

Please do not let him answer a different question. Canadians have been handled enough. At the core, it’s the same country, same sovereignty, and the same test.

Until we know what the hell they are signing us up for: Do not sign a damn thing!

Dear America,

To President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and the Americans sitting across the negotiating table from our government:

I'm writing this from Canada with a request I never thought I would make of another country.

Please help us.

Not our government. Us. The Canadian people. Please help us understand what is happening to our own country.

Our relationship with the United States is deteriorating. Our economy is hurting. Canadian and American families are worried about jobs, businesses, mortgages and the country we're going to hand our children. Yet through one of the most consequential trade disputes of our lifetime, ordinary Canadians are being left in the dark about what is actually happening.

We hear statements and vague explanations from our government. What we don't get to see or hear is what actually happened at the table.

Increasingly, Canadians are learning more about negotiations involving our own country by watching non-subsidized taxpayer funded American news and American officials.

Think about how extraordinary that is. Our media isn't working for us. Canadians are looking across the border to understand what our own government is doing. So today, I'm asking you to look back across that border at us.

Please don't leave Canadians in the dark. You have the perfect opportunity to shine the light on the truth and help Canadians to see it.

If you made Canada an offer, show us. If our government rejected something, show us. If Canada made demands that prevented an agreement, show us those too. Because we simply cannot trust what our own government and media is telling us.

Give us the timeline. Give us the documents. Give us whatever can legally be made public.

Then please do something unmistakably American...

Put it in front of the people.

Buy the television ads. Buy the newspaper ads. Buy the digital ads. Build a website containing the documents and put the address everywhere. Run a commercial during the hockey game if that's what it takes.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford bought advertising in your country because he wanted Americans to hear Ontario's message directly.

Please return the favour. Buy the ads in our country. Television, radio, social media...all of it.

Do it for Canadians who deserve to know what is being done in their name.

Americans understand something deeply that shouldn't stop mattering when you reach the 49th parallel: a government should answer to its people.

And people cannot hold their government accountable when they aren't given the information necessary to do it.

That is where we need your help.

For generations, Canadians and Americans have been neighbours in a way that goes far beyond politics. Our families live on both sides of that border. We trade together. We build things together. We defend this continent together.

Our governments can fight.
Our people don't have to become enemies.

So I'm asking you sincerely, and with more humility than Canadians are generally comfortable showing:

Please help your neighbours.

We aren't asking you to interfere in our politics. We aren't asking for money or special treatment.

We're asking you to turn on the light.

Give ordinary Canadians access to the information you already have. Speak directly to us. Trust us with the facts.

There was a time when Canada would never have needed another country to help its citizens understand what their own government was doing.

It pains me to admit that today, some of us believe we do.

And of all the countries in the world, there is only one I would think to ask.

America.

Our neighbour. Our friend. The country that has stood beside us through wars, disasters, terrorism, recessions and generations of shared history.

We're standing on the other side of that border now asking you for something remarkably small that could make an enormous difference.

Please show Canadians what happened.

• Put the documents in our hands.

• Buy the ads.

• Tell us what our own government will not.

Eight years ago today, I wrote six tweets that sparked a firestorm.

The establishment called me everything from xenophobe to bigot. Conservative colleagues distanced themselves. The media piled on.

All because I dared to question Trudeau’s sacred slogan: "Diversity is our strength."

Let me remind you what I actually said that Sunday night:

“Trudeau's extreme multiculturalism and cult of diversity will divide us into little tribes that have less and less in common, apart from their dependence on government in Ottawa.”

“Having people live among us who reject basic Western values such as freedom, equality, tolerance and openness doesn't make us strong.”

“People who refuse to integrate into our society and want to live apart in their ghetto don't make our society strong.”

“Cultural balkanisation brings distrust, social conflict, and potentially violence, as we are seeing everywhere.”

“It’s time we reverse this trend before the situation gets worse. More diversity will not be our strength, it will destroy what has made us such a great country.”

I was called a fearmonger. I was told I didn't understand what made Canada great. I was told diversity was always and everywhere an unqualified good.

Well, look around you today.

Look at the ethnic enclaves where integration has failed.

Look at the imported conflicts playing out on our streets.

Look at the polls showing Canadians increasingly believe mass immigration and multiculturalism are destroying our social fabric.

Look at the growing distrust, the social conflict, the tribalism I warned would come.

The critics said my warnings were "ill-advised" and "simply didn't make sense." They said I was out of touch. They said diversity would bring us together.

Eight years later, who was right?

The diversity of values ​​does not enrich us; nor does the diversity that rejects the principles of the Western civilization values, or that which refuses to integrate, or that which replaces a common national identity with a set of competing tribes.

That is not strength. That is fragmentation.

Justin Trudeau's vision of Canada as a "post-national state" with "no core identity" was always a recipe for division. And we are now living with the consequences.

It's time to admit what was dismissed as "controversial" in 2018 was just common sense.

It's time to recognize that multiculturalism without integration, diversity without shared values, and immigration without assimilation are destroying the social fabric of our country.

I was right then. I am right now. And history has proven it!

I am a Free Canadian.

For now.

I grew up believing freedom was the default setting. Canadians didn't need permission to speak their minds. Privacy wasn't something you applied for. Citizens questioned government, not the other way around.

Maybe that sounds old-fashioned now.
I don't care.

I am a Skeptical Canadian.

When politicians tell me a new power is only for my protection, I read the fine print. When they tell me it's for the children, I ask who will inherit the precedent. When they tell me only bad people should worry, I remember that every right we possess was created to protect ordinary people from powerful ones.

My ancestors didn't cross oceans so their descendants could ask permission to speak freely online. Nobody stormed beaches, froze in trenches, or built this country from muskeg and rock so future Canadians could be told which opinions are safe enough to share.

I am a Vigilant Canadian.

I come from the kind of country where neighbours pull strangers out of snowbanks, where farmers stop their tractors to help a motorist change a tire, and where people apologize when someone else bumps into them. Yet somehow we're expected to believe Canadians cannot be trusted with freedom unless somebody in Ottawa supervises it.

I don't want government deciding what ideas deserve promotion. I don't want bureaucrats deciding what opinions require supervision. I don't want privacy traded away one "reasonable" compromise at a time. And I sure as hell don't want my children growing up believing freedom is whatever remains after regulators finish editing it.

I am a Stubborn Canadian.

My country was built by people who crossed oceans, survived winters, broke land, built railways, fought wars, and buried friends. Not so future generations could quietly surrender their liberties because questioning authority became unfashionable or that blind allegiance is normal.

I am an Informed Canadian.

Which means I understand the oldest trick in politics.

Nobody arrives at the front door and announces they are here to take your freedom. They arrive carrying safety, protection, security, and good intentions. Freedom departs, hidden inside the packaging.

No freedom disappears all at once. It vanishes piece by piece. One exception. One permission. One restriction. One "temporary" measure that somehow never leaves.

Until one day people wake up and realize they still have all the responsibilities of free citizens and fewer of the rights.

I am a Free Canadian.

Not because government allows it. Not because a regulator approves it. Not because a bureaucrat signs a form.

I am free because generations before me insisted on it.

And if that little phrase ever disappears from our vocabulary, it will not be because Canadians failed to notice.

It will be because Canadians forgot who they were.

I haven't forgotten. And I have no intention of starting now.

Because the rights I inherited are not mine to surrender.

They are mine to protect.

And someday I intend to hand them, intact, to the Canadians who come after me.

I haven't forgotten.

When @elonmusk took over, the Left weren't silenced - they fled to Bluesky. X would be more balanced if they posted again

Bluesky is even more biased than X because they ban right wingers for posting content they disagree with

It is the same phenomenon time and again: Left-wingers cannot handle views they strongly disagree with.

The right are forced to create their own platforms simply because they are not welcome on left-dominated ones. But they do not exclude their ideological opponents.

All the academic research also clearly shows that in the USA, Canada and the UK people who are liberal/left-wing are far more intolerant of people with opposing views (ie the right) than people who are conservative/right wing.

(Eg Democrats & Labour voters are far less likely to be happy living next door to a Republican or Tory or having one marry into the family than vice-versa. The data is clear and unequivocal).

Just going to leave this little 'Fun Fact' here for all the High Speed Rail enthusiasts. This was brought to my attention, so therefore I must bring it to yours if you didnt already know...

Liberals serve themselves first and foremost.
This is another case in point.

Under her:
• Environmental strategy and compliance
• Regulatory approvals and impact assessments
• Sustainability frameworks tied to the rail project

Gaudet is positioned inside an entity that is:
• Federally backed
• Dependent on government policy, approvals, and funding

Her role is directly connected to this major national infrastructure initiative currently being shaped and eventually financed at the federal level.

So maybe when Liberals, their friends and families stop personally benefitting off the backs of hard working Canadians who keep falling behind then conservatives might not be so upset and against this.

Because from where I sit, this whole thing reads like a closed-loop favour factory. The Liberals want to expropriate land to serve a narrow slice of the country in one corridor, then hand the bill to everyone else, including millions who will never set foot on that train. Meanwhile, the government’s financing brain is tied at home to the environmental arm of Alto, and it all conveniently lines up with the climate sermonizing of Green Jesus Mark Carney.

Call it policy if you like. From here, it looks a lot more like insiders taking care of their own while the rest of the country gets the invoice..

I am a Canadian paying for a country that doesn’t include me.

I live in the part of the country your map forgets.
About 2,600 kilometres from the nearest stop on your proposed $90 billion train.

I am an overtaxed, under-served Canadian.

I heat my home with rising costs.
I fill my vehicle at almost $2 a litre, depending on the day and my luck.
I watch a country with 163 billion barrels of oil behave like it’s on a meagre allowance.

And you want me to pay for a train I will never use.

How thoughtful.

I am a hard-working, falling-behind Canadian funding infrastructure I will never touch.

It runs roughly 800 to 900 kilometres, depending on how creatively it detours around reality, from Toronto to Quebec City.

Seven stops.
All neatly contained within Ontario and Quebec.
Top speed, 300 km/h.
National reach? Let’s just call it selective.

I am a Canadian treated like a revenue stream, invited only by invoice.
Roughly $90 billion. About $8,000 per household.
For a ticket I will never hold.

From where I sit in Saskatchewan, your high-speed rail corridor might as well be interstellar travel.
Two thousand plus kilometres away circling the station, and still billing me.

I am a Canadian bereft of a stop on this train.
Close enough to fund it. Far enough to never use it.

I am fixing my own road access.
Paying more for groceries.

I am a Canadian squeezed by government-made inflation, where every errand costs more than it did last week and every explanation from you sounds rehearsed.

I am a Canadian quietly recalculating the future, trying not to downgrade my retirement to a leaky camper on wheels, while the country accumulates debt it cannot repay and prints money to pretend it can.

I am a rural Canadian watching how this works.
Not on my land. Not this time.
But close enough to understand the mechanism.

Because an 800 plus kilometre corridor does not meander politely.

I am an exasperated Canadian you included in your sales pitch.
I am told it will create 50,000 jobs.
I am told it will add $35 billion to GDP.

And I am sure it will.

In the corridor.
Where the stations are.
Where the density is.
Where the benefit is.

I am a shunned Canadian excluded from the outcome.
Included in all the arithmetic. Excluded from all the access.

I am a cynical Canadian being told this is nation-building. Though the nation appears to exist along a very specific set of coordinates.

I am the depleted Canadian who:

Reads grocery receipts like an audit.
Choreographs fuel stops around paydays not plans.
Measures distance in cost, not kilometres.

I am an overburdened, last-in-line Canadian.
Essential when it is time to pay. Optional when it is time to benefit.

I am an impoverished Canadian whose citizenship now resembles a pre-authorized debit agreement.
The withdrawals are national. The benefits are regional.

I am an exhausted, overlooked Canadian.

You’re not building this for me or my family.
You're just sending me the bill.

Overwhelmed food banks? Who cares?
Homeless veterans? Who cares?
Families taxed into poverty? Who cares?
A housing crisis? Who cares?
Drug addicts everywhere? Who cares?

I (Alex) am not from Alberta. My parents lived there during the economic downturn in the 80's, and my late father missed that majestic land for the rest of his life.

Here's my unsolicited thoughts:

Economics matter, but they aren't the MOST important issue (in my mind):

Economic issues are extremely important, because economic issues impact every aspect of human life and flourishing.

The so-called 'equalization' payments made by the West are unjust and obscene, and predicated upon socialist assumptions about human flourishing.

All citizens should desire to see the welfare of their fellow citizens, and the issue is not a willingness to help those in need.

Alberta has demonstrated through the giving of their blood and lives and treasure that they are a faithful member of the Dominion.

The issue is how best to help.

As every public institution has now demonstrated beyond doubt, the involuntary transfer of wealth from producers to consumers DOES NOT, in the long run, help the consumers.

Our healthcare is trash. Our public schools are trash.

Our money isn't used for the benevolent purposes which supposedly justify our giving.

This might actually be one of the best strategic reasons to secede: cut off the money supply to the corrupt State. We have subsidized our own ruin, and it's time it stopped.

Is there a place for emergency charity? Yes. Nobody disagrees.

Using a productive group to eternally fund an unproductive group is not charity or compassion or even civic duty; it is foolish.

The answer is to find solutions to turn unproductive provinces into productive provinces; not to save Alberta money, but to genuinely help those who live elsewhere.

A 'welfare' state has been ruinous to Canadian culture, and in a sad irony, undermines the welfare of those it claims to help.

On top of this, the Federal Government has intentionally demolished Alberta's means of production, which is tantamount to treason in a rational world.

'more bricks..less straw', as one ancient Dictator demanded.

But as serious as the economic issue is, there are more morally serious issues, which fall under the moral category of Self-Defence.

One of the pillars of the Christian worldview that undergirded Canadian culture is the inherent dignity of human life.

This is rooted in our being created in the image of God.

This is, in fact, the ONLY rational and coherent justification for human dignity and corresponding rights.

Any other justification is just arbitrary assertions.

One of the implications of the dignity of human life is the right to DEFEND human life.

Put plainly:

The Federal Government is the greatest threat to human life in Canada.

This is not hyperbole.

The Federal Government:

-Oversees the murder of our unborn, those with seasonal depression, and the elderly (even against their will). They call this 'health care'.

-Refuses to exercise their primary God-given duty to 'punish evil'. They put laws into place which invert justice and the nature of victimhood. Violent criminals go unpunished, inflicting violence on the innocent. The majority of murders are committed by repeat offenders, meaning they were entirely preventable.

This abdication to exercise justice in the defence of the innocent renders the Governing authorities disqualified from their office.

-Actively undermines the family and targets children for abuse: The Federal government has implemented legislation that criminalizes parental care for children, requires harmful lies to be considered sacred, and allows for child mutilation. This alone is worth going to war over.

-Refuses to defend our border from foreign threats: Canadian citizens have had their money taken to fund healthcare and housing for foreigners who hate our values and have no interest in bearing the sacred responsibility of citizens. Further, the State has allowed for money laundering by foreign states and criminal organizations to become our second-largest industry as a nation, bringing with it exponential increases in violent crime. Lastly, there are significant active terror cells operating in Canada who hate us and want to destroy us, all with State permission.

-Actively undermines all the bonds which unite citizens: Our Federal Government has actively sought to destroy the historic identity of Canada. They have sought to undermine our religious, moral, ethical, judicial, historical foundations through law and other coercive means (HR departments). In doing so, they have become enemies of the Canadian people and all that makes us a Nation.

The point:

The Federal Government is the greatest threat to Canadians, and protection from them is a matter of self-defence.

It is not about greed, or the unwillingness to share their abundance, and any suggestion of such is ignorant and ungrateful.

It is about the preservation of families, towns, and a people who are directly threatened with death and destruction daily.

This is not hyperbole.

Defending your people against threat is not sedition, it is your duty.

Protestant Resistance Theory includes the Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrates. This means that, essentially, it is morally justified, and at times necessary, to obey a 'lesser' magistrate when the 'greater' becomes corrupt to a degree that obedience would be immoral.

In our polity, the Provinces are Lesser Magistrates.

I believe we are at the point where Provincial leaders must defend their citizens against a corrupt Federal Government.

I fully support them in their pursuit of justice, freedom, protection, and the preservation of their way of life.

And I believe that the preservation of freedom anywhere helps people everywhere.

My flag is here in Ontario, as depressing and bleak as it is. It's my post and I have air in my lungs.

But I'll be cheering you on. Say a prayer for us when you think of it.

I was fired from the University of Guelph-Humber for calling Hamas “Nazis” — in a social media exchange with someone on another continent who had no affiliation with my university. The comment was personal political speech. It involved no students, colleagues, or university activity and had no connection to my teaching or institutional role.

The complaint that led to my termination came from a man who has publicly referred to Jews as “filth,” “subhuman,” and “devil worshippers.” He continues to teach. He was not disciplined.

I was.

Four weeks before I was formally given any charges, damaging and reputationally destructive statements about me were already circulating among staff and faculty. I will not repeat them. They are documented. They were serious. They spread.

Whether those statements were initiated, encouraged, or simply allowed to circulate unchecked, they were not meaningfully corrected.

I was also directly told by the head of Public Safety at Humber College to “watch what I say” on social media. Since my termination, I have received multiple legal letters referencing my public commentary and demanding content be removed.

It is reasonable to assume my public speech is monitored.

This post will likely be reviewed as well.

When publicly funded institutions track and respond to lawful political speech this way, it creates a chilling effect.

But you have not broken me.

I lost my job. I lost my reputation in ways that are documented and real. And the position for which I was ultimately terminated was this:

I stand with Israel.

And if you stand with Hamas, you stand with Nazis.

I said it then.

I say it now.

I stand with Israel.

If you stand with Hamas, you stand with Nazis.
