Alvis Shrewsbury was in Southern Regional Jail for just 19 days before his daughter learned that he had passed. The chief medical examiner stated that he died of natural causes, when in fact, his untimely death was due to internal bleeding.

Quantez Burks, was 37 years old when his voice was silenced. After his mother and fiancée spent $5,000 to obtain a second autopsy, they learned that he had passed not of natural causes, but of blunt force trauma to his entire body.

In the last decade, there have been over 100 people who have died under the watch of the West Virginia prison system. In the last year, 13 precious lives have been taken from us.
