#HousesAtParliament on Wednesday 2 nd August, 1 pm. Homelessness workers across the State ask State and Federal Governments to build social housing and develop a plan to end homelessness. No-one should be without a safe home! #housingendshomelessness
Thank you to @JulieCollinsMP for important strides in #homelessness, including securing long term homelessness funding, and new investments in social housing. And welcome to @ClareONeilMP. We look forward to working with you on the big challenges ahead. https://t.co/zvp0GoR9cE
Devastatingly First Nations people are 8 times more likely to need homelessness services than non First Nations people in Melbourne's west. This is an ongoing consequence of colonisation. We need a fulsome National Plan to end the housing crisis. #housingendshomelessness
Homelessness and allied services have folded over 60,000 origami houses across the State to reflect the number of households awaiting public and community housing in Victoria. #housingendshomelessness#HW2024
It's "Houses at Parliament" day! 6000 origami houses will displayed on the steps of Parliament (and 60,000 throughout the state) to represent the 60,000 additional social homes needed to meet current need. You can join the proceedings live online from 1pm: https://t.co/VluMIWJg9F

Congrats Chris Minns' PR team - (nearly) all media fell for the spin over the public housing substance in the NSW budget.
But it could be worse - it could be SA.
Meanwhile Dutton's anti-policy polls better than Albo's multiple attempts.
Go figure.

We’re folding 60,000 origami houses across Victoria to display during Homelessness Week to raise awareness of the urgent need for at least 60,000 additional, appropriate social housing homes in Victoria. It’s easy to get involved – find out more here:

Over 12,000 employed Victorians sought help from homelessness services last year. 70% of those were women. Victoria urgently needs the government to commit to increased funding for rental assistance programs and the building of 60,000 more social homes over the next 10 years.
Our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Senator Linda White. She advocated so strongly for homelessness responses and we feel enormously grateful for her wisdom, warmth and strength.
This week we've been counting down our Top 5 steps for Victoria to make the leap to end #homelessness. And the most important step of all – the step that makes many of the other steps possible – is to urgently redress Victoria's decades-long underinvestment in social housing.
Our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Senator Linda White. She advocated so strongly for homelessness responses and we feel enormously grateful for her wisdom, warmth and strength.
Thank you so much Minister Shing and Katie Hall MP for meeting with the Western Homelessness Network to discuss ways to address the devastating impact of the housing crisis on families, young people and single people in Melbourne's west.
It's #LeapWeek Day 3! Research has shown the Housing First model is incredibly successful at providing sustainable housing for people who have experienced long term or recurring #homelessness. Now it's time to back it with the resources to take #HousingFirst to scale in Victoria.
We're declaring next week Leap Week! Hope you'll join us for 5 days of positive discussion about the practical changes Victoria needs to make the leap to end homelessness.

This wonderful video could be telling the story of the the impact of lack of Government investment in building public housing in Australia- and provides a way forward to address the housing crisis.
Thank you @DavidPocock and @guardian for so articulately highlighting the fact that policy in Australia makes it easier for people to buy 2,3 or 4 homes than for every Australian to have 1 home. We need a plan to provide every Australian with a safe home. https://t.co/SF7aQuotqn
