At the 2026 March of the Living, the National Sheriffs’ Association was honored to stand alongside law enforcement leaders from around the world in remembrance, reflection, and responsibility.

Walking from Auschwitz to Birkenau is a solemn reminder of what can happen when hatred is ignored, when dignity is stripped away, and when those entrusted to protect fail to act.

For today’s sheriffs and law enforcement leaders, “Never Again” is more than a phrase. It is a responsibility to lead with courage, protect vulnerable communities, confront hate in all forms, and build a culture where justice, humanity, and accountability guide the work.

We are grateful to be part of this important moment of remembrance and commitment.

This week, the American Sheriff Alliance met with DHS Secretary Kristi Noem to discuss the critical work sheriffs are leading at the local level. The conversation focused on the importance of sustained and enhanced collaboration between DHS and local sheriffs to support public safety efforts and protect our communities across the country.

The American Sheriff Alliance consists of sheriffs, leadership, and chief law enforcement officers from the National Sheriffs' Association, Major County Sheriffs of America, the Western State Sheriffs' Association, the Southwest Border Sheriffs' Coalition and the Texas Border Sheriff's Coalition.

The staff and members of the National Sheriffs’ Association ask that you keep the Christian County, Missouri Sheriff’s Office and the families of Deputies Michael Hislope and Gabriel Ramirez in your thoughts and prayers as they are laid to rest tomorrow in a joint service at James River Church in Ozark, Missouri.

These deputies made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their community. Our nation owes them a debt of gratitude that can never truly be repaid.

Please also keep Sheriff Brad Cole and the many peace officers across the region whose lives have been forever changed by this tragic loss.

Sheriff Jim Skinnerand the Collin County Sheriff’s Officehave executed a major fraud bust in Collin County, targeting criminals who prey on elderly residents. This operation sends a clear message: scams against our seniors will not be tolerated.

• Remind residents never to share personal or financial information over the phone, especially with unsolicited callers.
• Encourage residents to report suspicious calls immediately.
• Check in with elderly neighbors and family members to help them stay informed and protected.

From engaging seminars and productive committee meetings to the debut of our exhibit hall, the day was all about fresh ideas, meaningful conversations, and solutions-driven connections.
