Last night highlighted what a huge club Aston Villa are. They know that, of course. But it was a reminder to those tuning in from around the world the size of the club, the passionate fanbase, the quality of coach and players, and all by joyous royal approval, too. #AVFC
The only negative of Villa being near the summit is coming on here and seeing every Gen Z football illiterate saying how much bigger their club is and damning Villa with faint praise like some puppy.
In the history of English football there's Liverpool and Manchester United who are significantly bigger. The rest are either corrupt rich, or stat padded minor European trophies and who haven't won the European Champions Cup as Champions of England.
In 151 years, Aston Villa Football Club have spent 70% of their existence in the top half of the top flight. For comparison, Leeds United have spent 50% of their existence in tier 2.
Any start to finish ( of English football, not 20 arbitrary "corrupt rich" years) historical top 4 includes Aston Villa Football Club. And it would take 50 years outside ghe top flight to change that.
@gazmavfc@johntownley11 Agree, huge statement in itself, shows the club are still progressing even without champs league, would have moved on under previous regimes. Hopefully others follow suit
Villa signing Tielemans for free from Leicester was daylight robbery.
โจIn a market gone mad, they secured pure class for nothing. Heโs been one of the leagueโs finest this season โand tonight, he ran the show again.
A rare creative soul still crafting magic in midfield. โจ๐ง๐ช
