The most painful part of my life was watching my son’s mother and my grandmother slowly lose their respect for me because I couldn’t provide. I was still trying my best but people can be understanding for so long. And I was drinking and gambling. I was losing my self respect in the process.
On days where Id light-up with hope and energy, it seemed more like I was just trying to beg for an extension of grace. Like I was convincing myself while lying to them. Lack of movement and lack of money turned me into an animal. An internally frustrated animal that seemed somewhat emotionless on the surface.
I will never look down on anyone who’s going through that period of their life. I know it sounds like cope to say, this too shall pass but it does. Depending on your choices. Just fight as hard as you can to not lose yourself on the process.
