@DesSullivan3 I'm having trouble accepting the argument that NL needs to bear a significant impact to our economy when we know that if it isn't our oil being burned, it will be someone else's. Combating climate change means reducing demand. That's what should end the NL industry down the road.

@drlorileeoates Isn't the goal to reduce demand for oil? E.g. carbon tax as one lever. Then supply the remaining demand with lower emission sources as we continue to reduce the demand?

@drlorileeoates @RussAlanWill Except for a few, most professionals in NL gov know they are on a sinking ship. There are no legitimate career development opportunities. Appointments are peppered throughout the service. All while their purchasing powers shrink. Yeah, it can be demoralizing.

@NickMercer2 @drlorileeoates I get your point but it's also worth noting that most of NL electricity (approximately 80%) comes from renewable hydro power. There's an argument in total cost accounting approaches that the user of that offshore oil accounts for it. That's not NL.
