Want to get more out of your hours?
Evaluate your Business with the following Framework:
THE LEVERAGE AUDIT
Why is manual work the problem?
With manual work every Monday, you basically start from zero again.
An asset keeps creating value after the original work is done.
And this audit will help you find where you can create more of it.
⸻
PART 1 — THE LEVERAGE TEST
Write down the 5 activities that consume most of your working time.
⸻
PART 2 — SCORE YOUR WORK
Give each major activity a score from 0–3.
REPEATABILITY
0: I must start over every time.
1: Parts can be reused.
2: Most of the work can be reused.
3: I can create it once and benefit repeatedly.
SCALE
0: One unit of effort serves one person.
1: I can serve a few people simultaneously.
2: I can serve many people with limited extra effort.
3: Serving another person costs almost no additional effort.
OWNERSHIP
0: Someone else owns almost all the upside.
1: I capture some of the upside.
2: I own most of what I create.
3: I own an asset that can continue producing value.
COMPOUNDING
0: Tomorrow I start again.
1: Some benefits remain.
2: Today’s work noticeably improves tomorrow’s position.
3: Each unit of work makes future units more valuable.
Add the four numbers together.
0–3: Labor
You are mostly exchanging time for output.
4–7: Leveraged labor
Some of your effort survives after you stop working.
8–10: Asset building
Your work increasingly creates reusable value.
11–12: Compounding asset
You may have something capable of producing disproportionate results over time.
⸻
PART 3 — FIND YOUR LEVERAGE GAP
Now look at the activities with the lowest scores.
Ask:
“How can I make this work reusable?”
Examples:
Instead of answering the same customer question 20 times → write a guide once
Instead of manually doing the same process → build a system, template, or automation
Instead of selling another hour → package what you know into a product
Instead of consuming information → turn what you learn into intellectual property
Instead of creating isolated posts → build a content library that allows you to iterate
Instead of only earning money → buy assets that can compound it
The goal is to make your work accumulate.
⸻
PART 4 — THE ASSET CHALLENGE
Choose ONE asset you can build over the next 30 days.
It should pass three tests:
You own it.
It can create value more than once.
Its value can increase as you keep building it.
My asset:
⸻
Who does it create value for?
⸻
What problem does it solve?
⸻
How can it create value while I’m not actively working on it?
⸻
What will I build this week?
⸻
⸻
You still need to work hard.
But if a growing percentage of your effort goes into assets, something interesting starts happening:
Yesterday’s work starts helping you today.
Then today’s work helps you tomorrow.
Eventually, you’re no longer relying entirely on the hours you can personally work.
⸻
WHAT’S NEXT?
This audit gives you the first question:
Where am I working without building assets?
But there are many different forms of leverage—and each works differently.
In The Laws of Leverage, I break down how to identify, build, and combine assets that can multiply your output, business, and wealth.

@ephhemere Just finished The Library After Dark by Andy Pliego, and it is one of the most interesting things I've read in a while. Couldn't put it down!
