@komradekhris It's also important for modern audiences who aren't used to temple worship. To most people now, a priestess is like any other girl, but the match-cut with the statue shows how her murder was an offense against Athena. And Athena keeps reminding him how he violated her temple
@Break4Soup@kyrsive He is being used as a shield against criticism of tech that's profoundly anti art. Maybe it wasn't generative AI & he used something else that sort of counts as AI with how it's an adaptive tool. This story is meant to make us feel bad for being anti AI, and I refuse to feel bad.
@asdfgts1@genuinezebratom In that instance they're actually correct, because the original transliteration was spelled like that to work with the British/non-rhotic accent.
@S_T_R_U@bo_yusa@marcorandazza@JaCisar C'mon, use even one context clue to get this is about entering caves at 50m. If you have a problem with a statement (made about a specific incident) being too broad, you can say that instead. Don't just rebut everything; You're having a different conversation than the rest of us.
@S_T_R_U@bo_yusa@marcorandazza@JaCisar What from this incident do you belive is fake? You keep saying things that are true in isolation, but ignore other facts of the case. Yes it can be safe to dive 60m on air; but then they entered a cave, and everything else we know says they weren't prepared. What's your point?
@S_T_R_U@jj_Jamesbaron@marcorandazza@JaCisar They didn't have those things. No one is saying it's impossible to dive to 60m; we're talking about an incident that already happened and the mistakes that made their death inevitable. These people were not prepared in either training or gear to enter a cave that deep.
@S_T_R_U@marcorandazza@JaCisar I don't believe you. But imagine for a minute: An instructor just like you led this group to their deaths because you're too stupid to hear anything outside your own head
@S_T_R_U@marcorandazza@JaCisar Yes. And here they are dead; and every cave diver is saying not to dive like this, so what else do you think was going to happen?
@mikzorian@nypost Trimix & heliox are both tec diving rather than rec, so probably not accessible to them. The higher level of O2 in nitrox is dangerous past ~ 100ft & actually can't go as deep as air. They're believed to have passed from O2 toxicity, not drowning, so nitrox might be the problem
@DylanHallagan@Snakeeater36 Diving on O2 isn't possible. That aside: the charter has Nitrox, so maybe they used mixed gas; but every source I found calls them "rec divers" so they probably weren't using it or didn't know how to anyway. Either way, cave diving on open circ is discouraged for a reason.
