I honestly think tipping culture in America needs to go.

Tipping used to be something extra you gave someone because they did a great job. Now you’re expected to tip 20% or more pretty much no matter what. Half the time you’re being asked for a tip before you’ve even received any service.

Why is it the customer’s responsibility to figure out how much an employee should be paid?

If restaurants need to charge more so they can pay their workers a decent wage, then just charge more. Put the real price on the menu and let me decide if I want to pay it.

The percentage thing doesn’t make much sense either. If I order a $50 steak instead of a $15 burger, the server didn’t suddenly do three times the work.

And those tip screens have made everything worse. You buy something at a counter and suddenly you’re staring at 20%, 25%, and 30% while the employee is standing right there.

The whole thing just feels completely ridiculous.

@ProFootballTalk Worst scenario I frequently see is 4th and 3 in clear FG range down by 4 in like the 3rd quarter. Make the kick, down by 1. Need FG to take lead. Noooo. Go for it and fail...now need TD to take lead when defense is prepared and playing back towards red zone cuz a FG wouldn't help
