Wheatkings fall 2-1 to the Raiders, a valiant and gritty effort but still not a full 60 minute game. Hopefully Jax and Luke will be back for the next game on Wednesday
Johnson has us at 1-1 after 20, despite missing the 2 leading scorers for the boys in black and gold they are putting up chance after chance and are outshooting the Raiders 12-9.
Your starting lineup for tonight against the Raiders, Hads returns but no Jax or Mistelbacher. Surkan and Klippenstein replace them on the 1st line with Ruzi between the pipes and Gio and Max with guarding the points.
The Wheaties continue the most goals for streak tonight in MJ, and for the first time this year breaks the .500 mark. But still gives up 4 goals against which doesn’t help the worst in the conference (if not the league) stat. The powerplay tonight was 0/3 tonight which signals to me that we need to make some adjustments, and the PK was 1/4. The biggest story of the game? Klipper. Klippenstein came out with a goal and an assist to tie the game at 2-2 before the end of the 1st. The Wheatkings have found the offensive go-pedal there’s no doubt about that, but when will the defence catch up?
WHEAT KINGS WIN! Jax gets the OT winner off the rush. Your BWK goal scorers are Turko (2) Mistelbacher, Gavin, and Jacobson (2) Ruzicka was good for 43 saves tonight.
Prabh has been unreal as of late, playing like someone pee’d in his proverbial cornflakes. This team is on the up! The goaltending situation however leaves one wondering, what actually happened with Eskit? Did he ask for a trade that we thought we got the better of with Kraus? Or was there an underlying issue. As frustrating as the start of the season has been, I think we’ve figured out that Ruzy (raw as he may be) is the starter.
We do know that the Ruck brothers are starting tonight, and Tigers do not forget. The big question will be who starts in goal? Puck drops at 6PM, lines for the boys in black and gold will be released shortly!
It’s GAMEDAY, Wheat King fans! 🏒

The rebels were the better team tonight winning 7-4 but the WheatKings did themselves no favours by playing like absolute garbage. Zero forecheck from the 1st line, no back check from D-Lines 2-3 (Burzynski’s pairing was horrific all night) . I never want to see Kraus start another game with exception of 2 games in 2 nights. At one point a forward dropped back for Allard to try and deke his way through 3 Rebels while the forwards sat back at the blue line watching. Lots of watching tonight, not enough getting involved. Good on Klipper for trying to get the team going (though maybe a little too late) in the 3rd. 60 minutes is what’s needed and we didn’t get it tonight. Hats off literally to Joby who got his 2nd hat trick of the year, but besides the 2nd line I don’t think the rest of the team showed up.
Hope for a rebound on Saturday, when we take on the Tigers at home and a piss-poor effort will not get us back to .500 against them.
We’re seeing Kraus go from the “bonafide starter” to borderline backup in real time. Granted the team hasn’t played great in-front of him tonight, but had he been in position and not given up awful rebounds (which has been a struggle all season) this would be a 3-3 game not a 5-3 with 5 minutes to go in the 3rd.
Despite the lack-lustre start in the 2nd Jobes his 2nd HAT-TRICK of the campaign makes it 3-2 Wheatkings, and then Red Deer comes back to answer on the PP on a scrambly play after 40. Tie game 3-3.
@dbartram22@tigershockey Love Murray or hate him, I think he’s here to stay for the season. Let’s see about the rest of the season, but handing out a 7-4 whoopin to the defending champs is something!
All Chase Surkan does is win championships! HUGE congratulations to Chase and the rest of Team Canada Red on their gold medal at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge!
WHEAT KINGS WINNN!!!!
A dominant performance for then boys in Black and Gold. The hat-trick from Mistelbacher, 2 more goals from Turks, and a goal from Burzy and Gav make it a 7-4 final.
