Richardson is among the 15 men's basketball student-athletes voted onto this year's Division III honor roll, and he has garnered Second Team accolades as one of only two players from the CCIW to earn the distinction in 2025-26.
The junior becomes the Wheaton men's basketball program's 11th Academic All-American.

The finalists for the 2026 Jostens Trophy have been announced, and @Wheaton_MBB 's Soren Richardson is one of 11 men's honorees under consideration for this year's award.
The Jostens Trophy honors are national awards created by the Rotary Club of Salem, Va. and sponsored by Jostens, Inc. to recognize the most outstanding men's and women's Division III basketball players of the year. The awards focus on three major criteria: basketball ability, academic prowess, and service to one's surrounding communities.
Richardson's selection marks the 14th time in the 28-year history of the Jostens Trophy that a Thunder men's basketball player has been tabbed as a finalist, extending Wheaton's record of the highest number of honorees by any Division III program.
The winner of this year's Jostens Trophy will be announced in April following the conclusion of the National Championship games and the Division III basketball season.

CCIW Tournament bound after a big win!
The @Wheaton_MBB team scores 54 points in the second half to take down #22 Carthage and confirm its place in the upcoming conference tournament.
Tonight's result marks the program's first victory over a ranked opponent since a win against #15 Elmhurst in January 2024 and clinches a winning record for the regular season.
Wheaton shot 53% from the floor, 15-19 at the free throw line after halftime, and put up 54 points in the paint and 23 on the fast break to secure the victory.
Soren Richardson tallied his third 30+ -point performance of the season with a game-high 31 tonight, while Devin Martin (pictured) set a new career-high with 19 points on 6-7 shooting and logged a game-best five assists. Carson Grier and Kyan VanderWoude each registered 12 points, with the former leading the team in rebounding and steals on nine and three, respectively.
The Thunder are back in King Arena at 7:15 PM on Saturday for their Senior Night game and regular season finale against Millikin University.

The Thunder men's basketball team outscores Augustana by 10 points after halftime to grind out a second-straight home win and move to 6-3 in CCIW action.
Wheaton held the Vikings to a 32% shooting mark in the second half, grabbed ten steals, and scored 27 fast break points to secure its 12th victory of the year.
Kyan VanderWoude (pictured) led all scorers with 22 points, was 8-9 at the free throw line, and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds to earn a double-double tonight. Soren Richardson registered 21 points, a game-high three steals, four assists, and five boards. Carson Grier contributed 12 points and eight rebounds, while Devin Martin tallied a game-best eight assists.
Wheaton will head to Wisconsin on Saturday for a 4:15 PM game at Carroll University.

A huge first half leads to a fifth conference win!
The Wheaton men's basketball team puts up 57 points in the opening period against North Park to log its highest point total in a CCIW game this year and improve to 5-3 in league play. This evening's victory moves the Thunder into third in the standings at the halfway point of their regular season conference schedule.
Wheaton led wire-to-wire in Saturday's contest, shot 65% from the field in the first half, and held North Park to a 4-20 total from three-point range.
Soren Richardson (pictured) led all scorers with 26 points, was 7-7 at the free throw line, and tallied six rebounds and four assists in the win. Kyan VanderWoude scored 24 points on 11-14 shooting, while Carson Grier earned his third double-double with 16 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Devin Martin added 12 points and a game-best eight assists.
The Thunder will stay in King Arena on Wednesday night to face Augustana College.

Victory at the buzzer!!
The Wheaton men's basketball team erases a 13-point deficit in the second half to earn a dramatic win at North Central College.
Soren Richardson nailed a one-legged three-pointer as time expired to cap the comeback and secure the Thunder's third one-point win in conference play this season. His buzzer-beater is the first for the program since an 80-79 win over Illinois Wesleyan in February 2020.
Wheaton is now 9-5 on the year, 3-2 in CCIW competition, and will stay on the road with a 7 PM contest at Millikin University on Wednesday.

A big first half produces a second conference victory!
The Wheaton men's basketball team holds off Carroll to earn another one-point home win in CCIW play.
The Thunder put up 48 points in the opening half while shooting 61% from the field and got 28 points from the bench to maintain the program's unbeaten home streak against the Pioneers that dates back to 1991.
Soren Richardson (pictured) led the team with 25 points, matched his career-high in steals with five, and went a perfect 8-8 at the free throw line tonight. Carson Grier scored 17 points on 66% shooting and grabbed a joint team-high six rebounds. Devin Martin tallied 15 points and a game-best eight assists.

Closing out 2025 with a comfortable road win!
The Thunder men's basketball team rolls to a 27-point victory in just its second-ever game against Wisconsin Lutheran to collect a seventh W of the season.
Wheaton scored 38 points in the paint, 17 fast break points, and held the Warriors to a 26.6% field goal percentage in today's wire-to-wire win.
Soren Richardson led all players with 18 points and three steals while shooting over 50% from the floor this afternoon. Carson Grier scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Reid Olson knocked down four three-pointers and finished with 16 points. Brady Wynja brought down a game-high ten rebounds, and Devin Martin earned a game-best six assists.
Wheaton travels into the Windy City on Saturday afternoon to face sixth-ranked UChicago before resuming conference play next Wednesday against Carroll University in King Arena.

Congratulations to Wheaton's Soren Richardson for being named the CCIW Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week!
The junior guard led all players in scoring with 29 points in the Thunder’s conference opener last Wednesday and notched a team-high 22 in Saturday's victory over Elmhurst while shooting a 60 percent average from the floor. He also tallied ten rebounds, five assists, five steals, and four blocks last week.

The Wheaton men's basketball team outlasts Manchester University with another 90+-point performance to log its fifth win of the season.
The Thunder shot over 60% from the floor in both halves of tonight's game and registered a remarkable 64 points in the paint.
Soren Richardson led the team with 24 points on 9-11 shooting, grabbed six rebounds and two steals, and made five foul shots in the final minute of the contest to seal the victory. Kyan VanderWoude tallied 22 points, matched Richardson on six boards, and dished out a pair of assists. Brady Wynja and Devin Martin led all players in rebounding and assists with totals of eight and seven, respectively.
After this week's holiday break, Wheaton will begin its conference slate next Wednesday night at Augustana College.

The Wheaton men's basketball team outscores Benedictine, 55-32, after halftime to earn a second home victory and cross the 90-point mark once again.
The Thunder shot 59% from the field in the second period and knocked down seven threes and 16 free throws while holding the Eagles to four triples and six foul shots to pull away for the win.
Kyan VanderWoude (pictured) led all players with a career-high 28 points and grabbed eight rebounds this evening, and four other Thunder players scored in double-figures, as well. Carson Grier shot 5-6 from the floor and notched five boards, three assists, three steals, and two blocks in a versatile performance, while Soren Richardson snagged a game-high four takeaways and Devin Martin earned a game-best six assists.
Wheaton stays in King Arena this weekend to host the annual Lee Pfund Classic and will take on St. Scholastica in a Friday night semifinal to begin the tournament.

The Thunder men's basketball team outpaces Lake Forest College with another 90+-point performance to move to 2-0 on the year. Tonight's result marks the first time in program history that Wheaton has started a season with consecutive wins while scoring over 90 points in each game.
Wheaton put up 48 points in the first half and never trailed in tonight's contest. The Thunder shot 54% from the floor in the second period and finished the game an even 50% from three-point range.
Soren Richardson led all players with 27 points and grabbed four rebounds and four assists while shooting over 50% on the night. Devin Martin (pictured) scored 15 points and dished out a career-high 11 assists for a double-double this evening while also leading the team with three steals. Kyan VanderWoude, Carson Grier, and Kyle Neibch all hit double-figures in scoring, with the former bringing down a game-high eight rebounds.
Next up for the Thunder is a trip to Michigan to face Hope College on Saturday afternoon.

The College Sports Communicators Academic All-District teams for men's and women's basketball were announced this morning, and four @Wheaton_MBB players have been named to the Division III list for their performance in 2024-25.
To be eligible for Academic All-District designation, basketball student-athletes must have competed in 90 percent of their team's games this season or must have started in at least 66 percent of the games their team played while also maintaining a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 through the fall semester.
