Quick thread: I'm deleting my Twitter ASAP. The reason I'm going is I was nearly killed today by a driver obstructing a drop kerb & tactile paving. He drove at me as my carer photographed him, as I tried to negotiate a higher kerb because he was obstructing the drop kerb. @YPLAC
Due to the pandemic, we are working hard on making our training virtual. Our team meetings are held via zoom and together we work on improving our virtual training one session at a time. If interested in booking our virtual training, please get in touch. https://t.co/qBFRk1SPFv
#Supermarkets have decided to enforce rule that ‘everyone, who is able should wear a face covering’. This seems to be interpreted by some as ‘permission to increase hostility towards disabled people’. STOP THIS NOW ! Turning on disabled people does not help ! #bekind
Today I was helping @BlondeHistorian get off the bus. I was showing her where the big step was so she didn't fall.
Someone kept shouting "Hello Gorgeous" at me again & again.
I know I'm stunning, but I've got an important job to do, please don't shout at me or distract me.
In an unprecedented move, two major banks have announced they will refuse to do business with President Trump, and will shut down accounts he holds with them.

Seeing lots of reports of a persistent "Loading..." notification on the NHS COVID 19 app on Android devices that started yesterday. Anyone seen a solution?

https://t.co/xZHPJSbpMT - Of course wearing a face covering is a really great idea, but not everyone can even though they want to. That's why the Government Guidance includes caveats, or exemptions.
These are the exemptions set out in The Government Guidance on Face Coverin...
Because this vehicle was obstructing my way, I would've had to travel 100m back, cross a road without a drop kerb, get onto an island without a drop kerb, cross a very busy dual-carriageway twice, travel 500m & cross over at 3 busy traffic lights. But that's okay as car is king!
Somebody saying they didn't previously say that vehicles are more important than pedestrians by reiterating vehicles are more important than pedestrians, because, wait for it, vehicles move faster than pedestrians! I'll show you what my 'inconvenience' in my ♿ would've been ⬇️.
@Wheelchair_View not saying vehicles more important than pedestrians, saying that in some situations removing a hazard from the road where vehicles are moving at higher speeds and could easily cause an accident is more important than temporarily inconveniencing pedestrians who move more slowly.
This is video footage of me sitting in my wheelchair on the tactile paving as vehicles whizz by. I can't see them & they can't see me. It's also a fairly wide road to cross so I need plenty of time to cross it; something I can't get because of this car blocking my view.
Again, this car is parked here today. It was still parked here on my return. It's fully obstructing my view of oncoming traffic, preventing the drivers from seeing me attempting to cross the road here.
@CrippledCyclist You are far braver than me. I would have probably done something like that thirty years ago but now I'm very wary as people are far more violent nowadays, especially when I'm highlighting them being illegally parked. Fair play to you for doing it though. 💪
You would hardly know it but there's a dropped kerb here! #PavementParking too. My carer had to reverse my wheelchair down off the high kerb here all because this #Selfish driver couldn't park one metre back! As you can see from the last photo, there's no excuse not to either!
After today’s news about supermarkets denying access to people who do not wear face coverings, I thought I’d recycle our advice from October ‘20. #facemasks#disability#disabilityrights https://t.co/35ZLBYm2hg
@Wheelchair_View You'll find they're intentionally using the dropped kerb, to reduce the shock from going up and down the square kerb.
Just do what I do; Use the drop kerb anyway. It'll cost them paint, & on some cars (Nissans), the license plate can stick out enough to get ripped off.
Oh well.
