Look up at the skyscrapers and cranes and look down at the buzz of a city full of young workers, and you see something occasionally elusive in Britain, a city full of growth and optimism.

In the week of more sluggish UK growth figures, for Radio 4’s In Other News, I was in my home town of Manchester where the economy has grown twice as fast as the British average for a decade, where leading CEOs were lauding the “fantastic” investment climate, and a business model built on keeping thousands of smart young workers in the city from a campus including the uni with the most applications, building units of accommodation to grow the city centre population to as much as 250,000 (from less than a 1000 in 1990) what some have referred to as an experiment of “living in the sky”. Growth is up, population up, per capita GVA is up too, and productivity has risen the highest of any other city in recent years.

The tram system is setting records, and there is now a net inflow of workers from London to Greater Manchester, reversing the flow so familiar from history… we spoke to entrepreneurs, CEOs, historians, the Mayor… some think it is a model, others think it has a unique set of assets that are difficult to replicate… either way it raises questions about “buzz” and the growth mindset, across UK.

@Tensei_C I'm a bit odd iOS dev - I use C#/Xamarin rather than Swift/ObjC. My code would not be to everyone's taste, but the concepts and API described in the posts is universal, and I think this is the tricky bit. But, in part 8, I'll link to some other great blogs with code samples.
