1/ The editorial page of the WSJ is usually a great defender of free markets and economic competition. It’s a shame to see them take the side of regulatory protectionism in their op-ed on the CLARITY Act.
everyone’s posting flags and picking sides like this is a football game
meanwhile gas is about to hit $6, your 401k just got shaved, and the same defense contractors who lobby both parties are having their best quarter in a decade
war is a wealth transfer. always has been.
the missiles cost $2M each…your tax dollars by the way.
lockheed martin doesn’t care which flag you put in your bio
the average american can’t cover a $500 emergency but we found another $40B lying around for Israel for a conflict 70% of the country didn’t want?
stop arguing about who’s right and start asking who’s getting paid…
Another day, another precedent-setting ruling for DeFi.
Today, Judge Failla dismissed with prejudice the Risley class action against @Uniswap Labs and @haydenzadams. The Federal charges had previously been dismissed, and today the various state claims are dismissed. Again, the premise is simple:
“Plaintiffs’ theories of liability are still predicated on Defendants having ‘facilitated’ the scam trades ‘by providing a marketplace and facilities for bringing together buyers and sellers of Tokens[.]’
Though the claims have changed, the result is the same: Plaintiffs cannot hold Defendants liable for the misconduct of the unidentified third-party issuers.”
To take my favorite quote from the last dismissal:
It “‘defies logic’ that a drafter of a smart contract, a computer code, could be held liable … for a third party user’s misuse of the platform.”

Patriotism derives from the ancient Greek πατρις, ("ancestor's land" or "clan lands"), in turn from πατρια (the extended family, clan, or other group of common ancestry), in turn from πατερ ("father"). The term πατρις referred to a set of people of recent common ancestry, in the Indo-European and Semitic cultures alike, symbolized by a common patriarch -- a group of relatives, and of the common bonds those relatives had.
Patriotism was not about watching TV and getting all gung-ho to go fight for some strangers against some other strangers. It was about fighting for *your family*.
You naturally had to join up with other families to win battles -- the Greeks united clans into a πόλιν, from where we get "polity" and "politics." Such cooperation required then and requires now a great deal of politics. Nevertheless, protecting one's own family was the core objective of every patriot.
Militarism is only patriotic when it pursues that goal. The more militarism departs from the goal of protecting your family and mine, the less patriotic it is. When militarism harms our families, whether via direct violence or through substantial indirect harm, moral or financial, militarism becomes unpatriotic, even treasonous.
President Trump and his Epstein-adjacent cabal, along with AIPAC congressmen, have harmed or endangered many American families, while helping few, by, to the neglect or our own national security and to the detriment of our own financial security, fighting for foreigners they love against other foreigners they hate. They have expended our hard-earned savings and put our military personnel and overall national security in danger in the process. They and their cheerleaders are far closer to being traitors than to being patriots.
I’ve been warning the tech industry for about a year now:
They will be hated, not merely for AI taking jobs, but for LYING about it.
Saying "the cobbler disintermediated by the assembly line couldn’t have imagined that new jobs such as Twitch Streamer would be created" is retarded.
Individual people were destroyed
by the Industrial Revolution, even if in the long term, GDP number went up;
In the long run the cobblers did not become twitch streamers, they died in gruesome wars caused by the convulsions of socialism — which was driven by technological anxiety.
We need to accept reality. AI will take a lot of jobs, at the very least in the short-medium run. In fact, every company in SV is betting on it, and if it doesn’t, the economy will collapse.
So we need some AI New Deal. Freedom Dividend, tax credits for family formation, wipe the college debt, wipe Boomer entitlements, reduce housing prices through remigration, and 100x the investment into space — this is the post economic-materialist vision for America — reclaiming our destiny as pioneers of the final frontier.
Sadly, the law as it currently operates in most of the United States, and much of Europe, more closely resembles
"What is permitted to Jupiter is not permitted to the ox.”
It's a very polytheistic religion, since "Jupiter" includes most bureaucrats, politicians, executives, and the like, unless they really piss off enough of their fellow gods.
The rest of us are the oxen.
Folks, US Banks' reserves are literally in free fall. The level is now the lowest in the past 5 years and far below where the US regional banks crisis started. Beware, banks are one of the engines of the stock market, and currently, stocks are flying high with an engine on fire.
@NickSzabo4@thegreenalpaca1@bumbadum14 Boomer is first generation to receive full dose moving-picture propaganda (first in history), but without any countervailing "free information" from internet. They had no chance. Sadly, many will never recover.
AI may increase the supply of almost everything, causing a general retail deflation. Banks, whether run by AIs or not, will increase the supply of fiat currencies. And I can imagine robot mining equipment increasing the supply of gold.
Bitcoin is another matter.
Do you remember when back in 2022 SBF was called the “JP Morgan of crypto” for its role in backstopping the space after the $LUNA crash? I remember what happened few months later to FTX after WSJ and others put out those headlines……
