Judicial reform cannot wait for some vague “time and place”— it must happen here and now
I. Introduction
Good evening to all friends caring about Ko Wen-je, and to members of the media:
“Judiciary is the last line of defense of a nation. It should be trusted by the people. Its sole purpose is to maintain fairness and justice in society. It must not be a political manipulation tool, nor should it be used by those in power to suppress opposition parties.
The judiciary must follow due process. Cases must be handled based on evidence. It must not rely on fabricated narratives to convict.”
These were the words I spoke on March 3 when I went to the Prosecutor Evaluation Committee of the Ministry of Justice to file a request for evaluating the prosecutors in this case. This trial is not about pursuing facts and truth—it is merely about filling in the final chapters of a political script that was already written in advance.
In this trial, the rules of evidence have been abandoned, testimonies have been selectively accepted, and procedural justice has completely collapsed. What we are seeing is not a trial in a country governed by the rule of law, but a judicial performance under political manipulation.
There has been far too much political interference throughout this case. Public trust in Taiwan’s judiciary has never been high. As the presiding judge in this case said, Taiwan’s judiciary is very fragile. My response is: “Ordinary people facing the state apparatus are even more fragile.” With this case, Taiwan’s judiciary has become even more fragile, and public trust has declined further.

Ko Wen-je appeared at the Taipei District Court for the second preparatory hearing today. After reviewing the audio and video recordings and comparing them with the official transcripts, his defense team found that the evidence contained improper questioning, unfounded speculation, and even threats. As a result, the defense team challenged the prosecution's evidence list and the admissibility of the submitted materials.
The DPP loves to chant slogans like “Resist China, Protect Taiwan” and calls for the cracking down CCP spies. But in reality, these are nothing more than hollow, deceptive political catchphrases.
Why?
Because the Presidential Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the DPP itself have all been infiltrated by so-called “state-sponsored” CCP operatives. This alarming reality lays bare the party’s hypocrisy and double standards.
We urge Taiwan’s prosecutors and investigators to conduct a thorough, transparent investigation and eradicate all CCP collaborators hidden within.
