On Tuesday Year 6 had a rather special visitor. They met the newest member of the team, Gerry Richardson. As you can see we were all thrilled to meet him and see Mrs Richardson!

On Friday, we explored and compared two sections of the school playing field e.g a shaded patch of grass compared to an unshaded patch of grass. Today, we are studying the samples we collected and writing up our results. 🐛🐜🌱

Year 6 are busy using a range of materials to create their own underwater collages. They have used the illustrations in our class book ‘The Hidden Forest’ for inspiration.

Year 6 have published some super non-chronological reports today. We’ve been busy learning all about famous ships such as the Titanic, Empire Windrush, HMS Beagle and the Wilhelm Gustloff... ⚓️

In Geography, Year 6 have been learning about natural resources in the Arctic. We’ve discussed issues such as whether commercial fishing should continue in the Arctic Ocean and whether we can use freshwater supplies as an environmentally friendly way of producing power.

Year 6 are fulfilling the role of ‘World Leaders’ for a day. Their aim is to educate humanity on the impact of climate change and persuade everyone to play their part in saving the future of our planet 🌏

We started our day by completing our rapid recall boards in maths. We revised our knowledge of fractions, decimals, factor pairs and rounding.

Year 6 are taking part in a ‘Show Racism the Red Card’ workshop.

Year 6 are working hard to create their own Monet-inspired masterpieces. Once finished, their paintings will show how our landscape might change due to climate change and pollution.
