Someone told me I needed to let go of the war issue and compromise.

I think my jaw hit the floor.

The Libertarian Party was founded on being against illegal wars. Nothing has changed since 1972.

We are still against illegal wars. Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, and now Iran have been waged without Congress declaring war the way the Constitution requires. The last time Congress declared war was to join World War II.

That matters to me as an Iraq War veteran.

The power to commit the United States military to war — wars that further compound an already untenable national debt — should not sit in the hands of one person.

We should not ask the American taxpayer to fund long, poorly planned, mission-less wars because Congress keeps abdicating its duty to declare war, while American soldiers die to keep the military-industrial complex and defense industry in business.

I am not involved in politics for any other reason than this.

Compromise?
