Legislators planning to introduce #datacenter legislation are holding Town Halls this week:
- Sen. Roem & Del. Thomas will hold one Wednesday (12/18) at 5 PM at Battlefield High School
- Del. Lovejoy will hold one Thursday (12/19) at 7 PM at Patriot High School
Think AI (and the data centers that do the computations) have no impact in the real world? Think again. Excellent reporting and illustrations. @washingtonpost https://t.co/fMgbU2apaL
In his new book, @timkaine basically dares us to try the new Virginia Nature Triathlon. And to take our time. My latest for @ChesBayJournal:

This is the most encouraging article I've read in a while re: the state of print journalism. I still read and write for a print newspaper and this TikToker points out so many benefits I hadn't considered. via @Slate

Much planning and preparation has gone into protecting the area during a drought, however, as @WhitneyPipkin points out, there is still a lot more to do. #droughtoperations https://t.co/66H49V1ERY

Not to mention, it is still illegal to swim in the Anacostia River outside of special permitted events. The @AnacostiaRrkper plans to host the first in 50 years in September.

This headline on a recent Washington Post column is quite misleading: "The Anacostia is finally safe to swim..."
The one-time event that would have let folks swim for a special event was cancelled because the water did not end up being safe that day.

@WhitneyPipkin@fairfaxcounty@AIRNow This map shows real-time info on multiple pollutants. You can filter by pollutant and view data at each location. Each box is colored w/ the health-based Air Quality Index for that pollutant. @AIRNow uses DEQ's data. We will share your feedback with the application developer.
@VirginiaDEQ@fairfaxcounty@AIRNow Thank you for the response. I know wildfire smoke is relatively new territory for our region, so I hope the feedback is helpful.
This AQI map from @VirginiaDEQ strikes me as misleading. The monitor spots with green are those that only track ozone, CO & NO2—not PM2.5, which is the hazard from wildfire smoke. Is this why DEQ and @fairfaxcounty keep pointing folks to @AIRNow instead? https://t.co/7zJbm3tUbC
