The reason why I’m going after these ratings glazers is pretty simple. People like us in the Big 12 have to worry about things that you don’t have to. Many of us are not sure that we are going to be able to compete at the highest level in 20 years because we’re afraid everything is going to get consolidated into a super conference.
How would you feel knowing every week that it feels like you have to win so your program will still be alive in 20 years? And on top of that if it doesn’t do good enough in ratings it may not even matter.
Then all you dorks go in and start bragging to us about TV numbers. And you do it in such an arrogant way, that comes off as “you don’t even deserve to play football if nobody is watching.”
It’s even worse for teams in the mid majors. College football is my favorite thing in the world and every weekend any of us watch our teams know in the back of our heads that we don’t know how much longer it’s going to be like this.
For teams like Washington State and Oregon State, this is already their reality and we know that’s gonna be what’s coming for a lot of us. It doesn’t matter if we won every game for the next 10 years, the TV companies would still tell us that it doesn’t matter because not enough people were watching.
Apologies for the rant but I just wanted to give an insight of why so many of us are frustrated.
@uninformedfrog Don’t disagree but it was clear at the time of your tweet we were not prepared. I love the frogs but my hopium meter is on low after the last three years. It’s been more of the same.
