For many Ukrainian families, preserving their own produce is an annual tradition that brings people together. Not only does it provide shelf-stable food to last through the winter, it also reflects the unique traditions of each family—no two families have the exact same recipes.
WCK's #ChefsForUkraine team is distributing our brand new preservation kits to communities who don't have access to their usual supplies and produce. Each kit includes enough ingredients for one 3-liter jar of fermented cabbage, one 1-liter jar of eggplant spread, one 1-liter jar of zucchini spread, and two 1-liter jars of borsch dressing, but each family can choose how they want to use their kit.
This way, families can use the recipes they've had for generations once again this winter—a comforting moment during increased Russian attacks and uncertainty.
Amy Acton: I am an Ohio girl through and through. I grew up in Youngstown. It's the stuff of Bruce Springsteen songs.
When I grew up, we didn't know what party you were in. We knew what union you were in. We knew what branch of the military you served in. We knew where you worshiped. But the biggest thing we knew was that you had one another's backs.
@GNOBOTS@karlykingsley Prices of daily necessities are rising in all countries and have not come down. In China, although there are no billionaire oligarchs controlling the country, prices are still rising.
@HappyMomofBen@megan_lassi The last time I saw this trend was when fans of Korean singers were "fighting back" against negative publicity on social media. They seem obsessed with persuading others, and I don't understand the point of this behavior.
Thank you for welcoming me to the Akwesasne Cultural Center Library yesterday. I’m grateful for the thoughtful questions and personal stories so many of you shared.
This community deserves a representative who listens, shows up, and offers the respect it has earned. When we win, these conversations will stay with me, and I’ll be back.

U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall claimed during Wednesday night's debate that tariffs were helping Great Plains Manufacturing in Salina. The company's chief financial officer says that's not the case. | #ksleg via Anna Kaminski https://t.co/ka0bvQL0L5
I was at dinner with two Republicans from the Woodlands (heartland of the GOP in Montgomery County). I tip-toed around politics until one went a on rant about the @elonmusk backed insane trans mailers and that Greg Abbott destroyed the public school system. Maybe not all is lost in Texas…
Trump White House attorneys are evaluating whether to issue mass pardons to junior staffers — as Trump allies press the administration to protect lower-ranked officials from prosecution and other legal challenges, according to two sources familiar with the conversations. https://t.co/MeDw75tSAv
Scott Presler in July, on 500+ voters registered at a 100-bed homeless shelter: "Preserve your records. Game on."
The Bulwark found Scott’s. GOP operatives from other states voted from his Pennsylvania house, and his own FEC donations since 2024 list a family home in Virginia.
The funny thing about Hochul is people call her a bad politician, but I've actually been on the campaign trail with her, and she's pretty engaging and fun and comfortable talking to voters.
She also:
-LOVES Buffalo and will chew your ear off about the city
-Curses like a sailor lol

@RabbitUnique@tatertotsconor@adamforever100@trashbaby40k No political party would have a candidate who makes transgender interests a major campaign platform. You perverts would be better off quietly living as a marginalized group in society, or getting out of there and going to Palestine to be raped or killed by Muslims.
Meet MAGAt Madison Cawthorn, whose current role in the government is absolutely nothing—unless you count keeping the Collier County courthouse staff gainfully employed.
After voters evicted him from North Carolina’s 11th district, he packed up his political ambitions and rolled into Florida. He recently tried to mount a grand congressional comeback in Florida’s 19th district, but the primary voters graciously handed him a fourth-place finish with a roaring 8.5% of the vote.
Before his forced retirement from public service, Cawthorn built an impressive resume of high-speed misconduct. He managed to get cited not once, but twice, for trying to bring loaded firearms through TSA airport checkpoints—because nothing says "law and order" like forgetting a loaded gun in your carry-on. When he wasn't trying to arm commercial flights, he was collecting citations for driving with a revoked license, culminating in a glamorous September 2025 arrest for simply failing to show up to court.
His devotion to the MAGA cause was always a masterclass in performative loyalty. He secured his original seat after a prime-time slot at the 2020 Republican National Convention, spent his single term copying-and-pasting populist talking points, and routinely claimed his political enemies were running underground, drug-fueled orgies in Washington. The House Ethics Committee eventually crashed the party, ordering him to pay over $14,000 to charity after catching him in a classic cryptocurrency pump-and-dump scheme.
The allegations against him didn't stop at sketchy crypto coins. During his brief stint in the national spotlight, Cawthorn was hit with multiple allegations of sexual misconduct and aggressive behavior dating back to his college days, which he naturally denied. From insider-trading violations to missing his own court dates, he remains the ultimate poster child for a political movement built entirely on grievance and traffic court drama.
Woah. Im a fan of his....but I am shocked at this level of crowd and enthusiasm for a democratic politician in Texas. I don't think I've ever seen this. Not for a politician?
So, it turns out CODEPINK co-founder Medea Benjamin went to Tehran to meet with individuals linked to the Iranian Quds Force
Little by little, we’re finding out who’s really behind all these anti-Israel “peace” movements
The Trump DOJ is 0-27 in voter roll litigation—and has taken giant swings and a mostly unbroken record of misses in other farcical election lawsuits.
Trump lost 60+ lawsuits in his 2020 election subversion scheme.
The purpose then, and now, of Trump’s abuse of the legal process wasn’t rights and remedies but to spread election misinformation, sow baseless distrust, and prime the pump for more radical election subversion of results he wants to overturn.
At some point, these election gambits lose all credibility, and the views of legal commentators who treat these stunts as presumptively serious and legitimate can be safely disregarded.
That point was long ago.
