Wholechain is participating in the Blockchain for Good Alliance (BGA) 2026 incubation cohort, alongside Humanity Link and Stormcatch Robot Authorization. The cohort supports startups whose technology is ready to scale. Our challenge: how do you make supply chain traceability work at scale, across every tier, system and commodity? Our answer is standardization.
We started with seafood and were verified capable by Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability (GDST). Recently, Wholechain has been verified capable with the GTFBL. Global Traceability Framework for Beef and Leather (GTFBL) is convened by World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Better Food Future and the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), with support from the Tapestry Foundation.
We're excited to build on that work with the Blockchain for Good Alliance and this year's cohort.

What a privilege to share the stage at Conxemar in Vigo, Spain with this group of leaders.
Our CMO Mark Kaplan joined the round table "AI and Digital Traceability: A Transformation Underway" at the 14th International Congress, hosted by Conxemar with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Abanca and Spain's Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
Mark was joined by:
Carmen do Sacramento Neto , Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Republic of Angola
Kevin Edwards, Vice President, Global Market Development, Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability (GDST)
Carolina Najar, Director of Food Market, AZTI
Moderator Xose Luis Vilela Conde, Director of the Santiago Rey Fernández-Latorre Foundation
Bringing governments, standards bodies, researchers, and industry together in one conversation shows how far digital traceability has come. Shared standards, connected data, and thoughtful use of AI are helping seafood move from catch to plate with greater transparency and trust.
Thank you to Conxemar and everyone who brought this year's theme, Smart Blue Leadership, to life.

Wholechain is heading to Tokyo for The Sustainable Seafood Summit 2026 (TSSS 2026), October 21 to 23 at Tokyo Portcity Takeshiba.
Our Head of Growth, Erin Taylor Cooper, will moderate the panel "End-to-End Traceability for Trust and Integrity" on Thursday, October 22, from 13:20 to 14:40 JST.
The challenges facing seafood supply chains all come back to one question: can you verify where your product came from and how it got to you? The panel will dig into how interoperable, standards-based traceability makes that possible from vessel to market.
TSSS 2026 brings together business leaders, policymakers, researchers and NGOs with a clear focus: turning East Asia, one of the world's largest seafood markets, into an engine of global solutions.
Admission is free with pre-registration. If you'll be in Tokyo, come find Erin and our team.

Trust in food starts with what you can see.
At Food Tank's Mission Driven Brands Sustainability Summit during Climate Week NYC, leaders from Whole Foods Market, Bel North America, Sovereign Seas, Maker's Mark and more kept returning to the same idea: transparency is how brands earn trust and keep it.
Our Chief Marketing and Sustainability Officer, Mark Kaplan, put it simply: "If you can't see it, you can't really make claims."
Every sustainability claim you make needs traceable data behind it. And as policy and buyers push for clearer labels, that data has to move with the product from source to shelf.
That is the work Wholechain does every day with food and seafood brands.
Thank you to Food Tank and summit partners Bel US, Northstar Recycling, the Global Traceability Framework for Beef and Leather and Bonterra Organic Estates | Viña Concha y Toro USA for a candid conversation.

Traceability stops being abstract the moment you can scan it.
At @foodtank's "Building a common language for supply chains" session during Climate Week NYC, the QR codes did all the talking. Chicken of the Sea tuna traced back to the vessel. Traceable beef from the Scherler-Abney Land & Cattle Co cohort. Forested honey and lobster from Sovereign Seas.
Mark Kaplan, Chief Marketing Officer at Wholechain, framed the reason it matters: if you cannot see it, you cannot make claims about it or verify what is actually happening in your supply chain.

That is a wrap on our FDA FSMA 204 session at the Responsible Seafood Summit in Bangkok.
Thank you for showing up, asking hard questions and sharing what FSMA 204 looks like inside your own operation. Traceability gets easier when the whole supply chain talks to each other, and that is exactly what happened in that room.
Thank you Jayson Berryhill and Erin Taylor Cooper for leading it, and to the Global Seafood Alliance and The Center for Responsible Seafood - TCRS for hosting.

Traceability does not get satisfied at any single point in the supply chain. It depends on every link doing its part.
We're excited to kick off our session on FDA FSMA 204 at the Global Seafood Alliance Responsible Seafood Summit! Jayson Berryhill and Erin Taylor Cooper are running a two-hour working session on the challenges seafood companies are facing and some practical solutions including: floor-loaded containers with no case-level packaging, traceability lot codes and TLC source when you are the US importer, and moving data across partners who are not all at the same stage of readiness.
Join if you are interested in practical approaches to market readiness!

Today Blade Brink, Enterprise Solutions at Wholechain, presented at International Conference on seafood and Health 2027 covering Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability (GDST), one common language for seafood traceability data.
GDST defines the events you record (Critical Tracking Events) and the data inside each one (Key Data Elements): who, what, where, when, how much, how.
If your buyers are asking for GDST data, we are always up for the conversation.

Buyers are asking harder questions about where your seafood comes from, regulators are too. Market-ready traceability answers both without slowing down operations.
Join Blade Brink, Enterprise Solutions at Wholechain, at the International Conference on seafood and Health for a 25 minute session on what market-ready traceability looks like in practice, inside the wider discussion on Global Seafood Trade in Transition: The Impact of Tariffs, Production Costs and Consumer Demand.
Tomorrow, 15 September, 5:55 to 6:20 PM Vietnam time.

We're teaming up with iFoodDS to make FSMA 204 compliance simpler for seafood suppliers.
The integration lets Wholechain users share key data elements directly with trading partners on iFoodDS Trace Exchange™, cutting friction as customers across the supply chain ask for standardized, GS1-aligned traceability data.
"We're excited to enable more seamless ways of tracking products under FSMA 204," says Wholechain CEO Jayson Berryhill. "Our integration with iFoodDS reinforces our commitment to interoperability, offering our customers flexible, cost effective and holistic solutions to meet their customers' traceability requirements, so they can focus on their core business."
Wholechain gives suppliers a standards-based way to own and control their traceability data, no matter which systems their customers use.

How many lot codes should a warehouse have to ingest to process a single pallet?
Under the FDA's recent clarification, one. Packing after processing counts as part of a single transformation event, so a processor can record and assign a single traceability lot code to an entire shipment rather than passing every internal batch code downstream.
Processors keep their lines moving. 3PLs and cold storage operators ingest one code per product. Investigators still trace any shipment straight back to the facility that processed and packed it.
To help our partners navigate this, Wholechain and the National Fisheries Institute Traceability Workgroup sought official guidance from the FDA.
We made this short video to explain our recent article on it in a clearer, more visual way.
