#GraduationSuccess Coordinator Harrianne Nathaniel: A participant who struggled with school and attendance last year came to school this year and informed me she was going to make school a priority. She has had perfect attendance so far this year and her GPA went from 1.4 to 3.6.
“We shouldn’t be taking kids away from their parents because they don’t have food or a refrigerator,” she said in explaining her philosophy. “I grew up in a poor family in South Carolina, and we didn’t have a lot. But what I had was people who cared about me.”

The first Donut Dialogue of 2019 took place on Friday, February 22nd. Police and participants talked about safety and perceptions as they learned from each other how to have more positive interactions. We're looking forward to hosting another Donut Dialogue in the near future!
