A healthy forest maintains a healthy human. More than a quarter of modern medicines originate from plants found among the tropical forests. #ClimateChange #ClimateAction #forestsmatter @CalForests @Stanislaus_NF @CAL_FIRE @CATreeTaskForce

[Why Forests Matter @WhyForestMatter]

The forest is home to plants, animals, and humans alike. 300 million people worldwide live in forests and 1.6 billion depend on them for their livelihoods! #ClimateChange #ClimateAction #whyforestsmatter @CalForests @CATreeTaskForce @CAL_FIRE

[Why Forests Matter @WhyForestMatter]

One large tree can provide a day’s supply of oxygen for up to 4 people. The fewer trees there are, the fewer lives the earth can support! #whyforestsmatter #itsabouttrees #ClimateChange #ClimateAction @CalForests @CAL_FIRE @Angeles_NF @Stanislaus_NF @CATreeTaskForce

[Why Forests Matter @WhyForestMatter]

Do you feel drawn to the forest? The biophilia hypothesis suggests that humans possess an innate tendency to seek connections with nature and other forms of life #whyforestsmatter @CalForests @StateForesters @Stanislaus_NF

#governorjerrybrown “Forests serve as the state’s largest land-based carbon sink, drawing carbon from the atmosphere and storing it in trees and shrubs and in forest soils. But even a single wildfire can immediately cancel all those benefits.” @CalForests @CATreeTaskForce

[Why Forests Matter @WhyForestMatter]

#LittleHooverCommission "..much work is needed to change a culture focused almost solely on emergency firefighting to one that supports long-term forest restoration and management." Culture change is key! @CATreeTaskForce @CalForests #ClimateAction #ClimateChange

[Why Forests Matter @WhyForestMatter]

What if we didn’t have to kill 250 million trees every year? You can help by simply recycling your newspaper! In fact, just by recycling a single run of the New York Times, we could be saving 75,000 trees! #forfuturegenerations #ClimateAction #ClimateChange #whyforestsmatter

[Why Forests Matter @WhyForestMatter]

Our forests directly effect the quality of our most precious resource, water. “In California we rely on National Forests for half our water supply.” 💦 #watershed @nationalforests

[Why Forests Matter @WhyForestMatter]

Since 1990, around 129m hectares of forest—an area roughly the size of South Africa—have been chopped down by humans. Deforestation, along with other types of land use change, accounts for close to 11 percent of annual global CO2 emissions. #whyforestsmatter #ClimateChange

[Why Forests Matter @WhyForestMatter]

Our forests can only thrive with a balance between man and nature! It’s time to restore the balance so we all can thrive. #ClimateChange #whyforestsmatter #itsabouttrees #carbonfootprint #theresnoplanetb #restorethebalance

[Why Forests Matter @WhyForestMatter]

The oldest redwoods date back to the Roman Empire...most have been lost to timber harvest... these giants are unparalleled living carbon banks. #whyforestsmatter #itsabouttrees #restoretheforest #forestminded #ClimateChange @CATreeTaskForce @CAL_FIRE @CalForests

[Why Forests Matter @WhyForestMatter]

A single mature tree can absorb carbon dioxide at a rate of forty-eight pounds per year. This same tree will release enough oxygen back into the atmosphere to support two human beings #whyforestsmatter #itsabouttrees #restorethebalance #ClimateChange

[Why Forests Matter @WhyForestMatter]

Forests are the lungs of our planet; breathing in CO2 and exhaling O2#whyforestsmatter #itsabouttrees #restorethebalance
@CATreeTaskForce @CalForests @CAL_FIRE @Angeles_NF @Stanislaus_NF

[Why Forests Matter @WhyForestMatter]

Forests act as our “our lungs”, which is why restoration of our forests is a key initiative for Why Forests Matter. #MotivationalMonday #HealthyLiving #Forestry

“Forests serve as the state’s largest land-based carbon sink, drawing carbon from the atmosphere and storing it in trees and shrubs and in forest soils." #DidYouKnow #SaveTheTrees

[Why Forests Matter @WhyForestMatter]

#Forests are home to 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity - plants, animals, fungi, and bacteria. #WednesdayWisdom #keeptheforestsafe

Stand tall like the tallest tree in the Forest. For two reasons; 1) To be confident and strong and 2) Envision a huge tree and what the image means then go out into the world being that image in a human form. #MotivationalMonday #forests #trees #StandTall

The #forests provide us with plenty of hiking, biking, and running trails! Get outside and explore the nature around you. #HappySummer #trees #getoutside #whyforestsmatter

[Why Forests Matter @WhyForestMatter]

Between #fire supression, historic droughts, and bark beetles; the #forests are suffering! In fact, "Sixty-two million died in 2016, with about two million more a month dying in 2017.” Check out more information in the Little Hoover Commision #whyforestsmatter #tree #nature

[Why Forests Matter @WhyForestMatter]

"much work is needed to change a culture focused almost solely on emergency firefighting to one that supports long-term forest restoration and management.” The Department of Forestry and CalFire lack to provide programs to prevent wildflews #makeachange #whyforestsmatter #forests
