This account is dedicated to the memory of the most incomparable actor of the stage and on-screen as one of the brightest stars in the Golden Age of Hollywood cinema, William Horatio Powell (1892 - 1984)
William Powell launches into one of his wonderfully zany, over-the-top demonstrations in "Double Wedding", taking over an acting rehearsal when Florence Rice’s onscreen fiancé proves a complete failure at romance. Behind the scenes, however, tragedy cast a long shadow: Powell’s real-life fiancée, Jean Harlow, died during filming, causing production to pause while both Powell and Myrna Loy struggled with their grief. The film ultimately became their seventh pairing, adding another chapter to one of Hollywood’s most beloved partnerships.

Best of Carole.
2 - My Man Godfrey. If there ever was a screwball heroine, that's Irene Bullock. Her uncanny reasoning sums up a long gone era. A world I would love to live in.

William Powell and Carole Lombard were nominated for acting Academy Awards for My Man Godfrey, released in 1936. The story was based on a book by Eric Hatch.
After the Thin Man may be the best sequel ever. Here's a cool Believe It Or Not type piece of newspaper filler from the time. Was there ever a better pairing than William Powell and Myrna Loy? (And Asta...)
