We are looking for speakers for our next event and also for co-organizers of @WiMLDS_Tokyo chapter. Send us a note if you are interested in helping us or if you would like to give a talk!
Previous organizers of WiMLDS Tokyo's chapter are currently out of Japan. If you are interested in taking over the organization please contact [email protected] to learn more!
We’re back with more #AtHomeWithAI researcher recommendations. Next up is research scientist @csilviavr with suggestions for resources to learn about causal inference! (1/5)
Things women have invented
In 1868, cotton mill worker Margaret Knight invented a machine make paper bags with a flat square bottom
A man named Charles Annan saw her design and tried to patent the idea first.
Knight filed a lawsuit and won the patent fair and square in 1871
We are so over the top with joy and sooo grateful for the lively, honest, insightful and inspiring contributions of all the attendees to the discussion, and so excited about growing and strengthening this community in Tokyo! HUGE THANK YOU to all that made this possible!
Thank you all for making this first event so special, particularly to the wonderful speakers @sina_lana @shokout and Jing Li (too bad she isn't spreading her wisdom and humor in Twitter!), and to @awscloud_jp for hosting us and the support in the organization
Gave a talk on tips of MLOps on a cloud. One of take-home messages is to focus on valuable ML tasks by removing undifferentiated heavy lifting. Thanks @YOKOZUNAdata for organizing the first meetup of WiMDLS in Tokyo! Fun to discuss with many women scientists!
