My Dad bought this silage wagon brand new in 1972. In our effort to get rid of stuff we no longer use it went to Wieman’s today.
It made me sad.
The memories of filling silos came back vividly… the purr of the cutter behind an 856 or a 4430 from across the field… the roar of the 806 on the blower… the smell of the fresh silage flowing out of the wagons… the jokes and tricks by the crew. It was dirty work but signaled the start of the harvest season and in hindsight was really one of the best times of the year.
Mostly it made me miss those years I got to farm with my Dad… but time rolls on… and you can’t go back…
